Rafael Nadal: In 2005, I Thought In 2017 I’d Be Fishing On My Boat In Mallorca

Not even Rafael Nadal can believe it. Twelve years after winning his first French Open title, Rafael Nadal is still the King of Roland Garros after an emphatic 62, 63, 61 victory over Stan Wawrinka.

“In 2005, I thought in 2017 I’d be fishing on my boat in Mallorca,” Nadal joked after winning a 10th French title. “I didn’t really think I’d have such a long career and win so many tournaments.”

Now 31, Nadal may actually be improving. He just won third French Open without losing a set and this time dropping his best of just 35 games. And he nearly won the Australian Open, just falling short at the finish line to Roger Federer.

So how many more French Open can Nadal win? And when will he be finally fishing? Nadal is scheduled for a week off before playing in Queen’s.

I Never thought in my wildest dreams he would ever win 15 GS, Pete must be pissed now, two other all time greats surpassing his GS record, im sure he thought his 14 record was safe ….

1 more!

Pete may see Djokovic, if he gets is head out of his vegan recycling portal, also “get more Slams” than Pete.
Any athlete will tell you that records depend in part on the level of competition faced. Sampras faced tough competition and likely would say Rafa faced the same and got his titles the old fashioned way. He earned each one against a tough player.
For now, Rafa and Pete are in the conversation as possible GOATs other than Fed, and Djokovic may be despite a full squandered year of suckitude.
For sure, Sampras is GOTE! Goat of that Era Pete was in.
