After a first round loss last year to the retiring Tommy Haas, Roger Federer will give Stuttgart another shot, opening his grass season there in June.

“The atmosphere at TC Weissenhof is amazing. You immediately feel that this club is full of life,” Federer said. “The fans get really going during the matches. On grass, my expectations are naturally high, so, I’m looking forward to once again playing in Stuttgart.”

The 36-year-old Federer is taking the clay season off hoping to parlay it into another Wimbledon title, just as he did a year ago.

Milos Raonic, Hyeon Chung are also scheduled. Federer will then head to Halle after Stuttgart.

Sounds about right, pretty much what everybody would expect ….

Humble Rafa Says:

Old age does not prevent a man from looking for more money.

Yesterday I saw a commercial on tv, Fed announcing a pesto sauce.. I liked it, I still want to cook it.

At 90, he will be pitching adult diapers with a Wimbledon trophy in hand. You know, it’s coming.

osazone Says:

Like Nadal said in his interview, it worked last year for Roger, so why change it.

Anyways according to ATP rules, if you fulfill all the following > 600 matches, >30 years and >12 years on tour – you are not exempted from partaking in Mandatory tournaments

I hope Rafa gets to play Federer in US open b4 they retire

osazone Says:

sorry – I meant you are exempted

Madmax Says:

Good Luck Fed!

Will be great to see you back on the hallowed grass courts. Not enough tournaments played on grass, but I’ll take the 3 that you have decided and hope you sweep the board.

Roger has a good chance, but equally, many others will take their chances. Of course. Raonic is a great grass court player. I think Rafa will be too tired come Stuttgart, but may be he plays, even so, Novak has a great chance too, hope he overcomes his troubles.

Colin Says:

Not really part of this thread, but I see Andy has just announced that he will play Queen’s. It’ll be great to see him back on the grass, but I hope he isn’t being too optimistic about that hip. He gave it a good test on that very court yesterday, but real matches are another matter, and anyone drawn to meet him will fancy their chances,
