Novak Djokovic To Appeal Deportation On Monday
Novak Djokovic and his lawyers will have the weekend to ready their appeal to the Australian government’s decision to deny the World No. 1 his visa.
Djokovic will stay isolated in the Park Hotel in Melbourne until Monday when his case is heard. If the decision is overturned, he will move to his tournament apartment (which his team is likely staying) and prepare for the Australian Open. If not, he will be sent back to Serbia
Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic is fight for Djokovic, as well.
“I told our Novak that the whole of Serbia is with him and that our bodies are doing everything to see that the harassment of the world’s best tennis player is brought to an end immediately,” he stated.
Djokovic’s father added fuel to the fire. “Shame on them,” he said. “The entire freedom-loving world should rise together with Serbia. They crucified Jesus and now they are trying to crucify Novak the same way.”
Reportedly, Djokovic does have some of his belongings but not his wallet and not access to a tennis court or possibly even a gym.
The Australian Open is a vital event for Djokovic who, if he plays, would be favored to break the 20-20-20 tie he shares with rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
