Novak Djokovic and his lawyers will have the weekend to ready their appeal to the Australian government’s decision to deny the World No. 1 his visa.

Djokovic will stay isolated in the Park Hotel in Melbourne until Monday when his case is heard. If the decision is overturned, he will move to his tournament apartment (which his team is likely staying) and prepare for the Australian Open. If not, he will be sent back to Serbia

Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic is fight for Djokovic, as well.

“I told our Novak that the whole of Serbia is with him and that our bodies are doing everything to see that the harassment of the world’s best tennis player is brought to an end immediately,” he stated.

Djokovic’s father added fuel to the fire. “Shame on them,” he said. “The entire freedom-loving world should rise together with Serbia. They crucified Jesus and now they are trying to crucify Novak the same way.”

Reportedly, Djokovic does have some of his belongings but not his wallet and not access to a tennis court or possibly even a gym.

The Australian Open is a vital event for Djokovic who, if he plays, would be favored to break the 20-20-20 tie he shares with rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

“ Reportedly, Djokovic does have some of his belongings but not his wallet and not access to a tennis court or possibly even a gym.”

You got a be joking, gym…tennis court?! Have you actually seen the “hotel”, check on YT, that’s is the filthy place where they keep asylum seekers!

Dave Says:

I saw a picture of the food at this place with maggots beside the dish. Pretty bad conditions he’s in at this point.

Wog Boy Says:

Dave,
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

There is interesting take from my friend, respected solicitor from Sydney who called me last night that I want to share with you.
After he wished me Merry Christmas the first thing he said was:
“Novak Djokovic was tricked into this trip, it was a set up.”
The more I think about this “event” the more I see the truth in his words, and no he is not Serbian, he follows rugby and Maria Sharapova, just ordinary Australian and very good in what he is doing.

Dave Says:

. I have question for you. You would know more than me for sure. I’m feeling that there is literally zero chance that Djokovic will win this appeal on Monday. Is that the reality of the situation? I honestly have the majority of my best tennis memories watching the Australian Open. I’m definitely feeling sad about this and trying to just expect the worst in this situation. I was really looking forward to watching him play this year.

Wog Boy Says:

I don’t think the chances are zero, though it always hard when you go against government, particularly foreigner.
It appears that he has good barrister (who worked for government), it was his request for the case to be heard on Monday, we’ll wait and see.
As for Nole playing if they clear him, no I wouldn’t want him to play, I want him him to tell FU and live the country and never play againg here, same what the Architect of famous Sydney Opera house did in 1966. after dispute with government, never to come back again, even they begged him. Today entire world is enjoying his master peace.
As long as the tennis is played they will talk about Nole, in one year time nobody will remember Scumbag Scomo or Cairman Dan.

Dave Says:

If he never plays in Australia again then Nadal has just become the favourite to finish with the most Grandslams. Nadal could be at 22 going into Wimbledon now.

Wog Boy Says:

So be it, you sound to me like very spiritual and philosophical person, there are more important things in life than titles.

autoFilter Says:

Australia is canceled. New GS totals:

19 Rafael Nadal
14 Roger Federer
12 Pete Sampras

Dave Says:

It would be nice for this race to end in a more exciting way. It seems it will end in an anticlimactic way now. But at the end of the day they are just titles and numbers and hitting a ball with a racquet over a net. Not real life.

BT Says:

The drama from the Djokovic’s is a bit over the top. I get they are worried about their son/brother and don’t agree with what has happened and I get that but the rhetoric is just crazy. They are literally treating him like he’s some kind of god, like he represents the entire country of Serbia, no in fact the entire free world. I mean geez, they are comparing him to Jesus. He’s been elevated to this global martyr. Get off your high horses, no-one is that important, certainly not a tennis player. Follow the rules or don’t but don’t go crying persecution when you don’t like the clearly stated consequences.

All that said I do share some sympathy with him like Nadal. Especially with him being told he can come then denied when he gets here. That was poor form no doubt but I guess we still don’t really know all the details, maybe we never will.

Wog Boy Says:

This the message that Nole managed to send to his brother Djordje, google translate won’t do any justice and I won’t even try to translate it, I agree 100% with Nole, people fluent in Serbian will understand it:

Poruka od Novaka
Brat Đorđe je otkrio i šta mu je Novak poslao iz Melburna.

“Bog vidi sve, moralna etika kao najveći ideali su zvezda vodilja ka uzdizanju duhovnog. Moja je blagodet duhovna, a njihovo je samo materijalno”, preneo je Đorđe poruku Novaka.

Van Persie Says:

It is the image of Australia’s officials which will be more damaged long termed, I would say. If they would not have granted Nole permission to play and to get into that plane, all of this would not happen.

Van Persie Says:

I took also the Booster, but if it will get to that, that I will need the vax every 6 months from now on, I will say pass…

The O´opu.

Few inches long. It is a fish. Lives in Hawaii.

A part of its life is climbing a 150 feet high waterfall ridge to breed, using its mouth as a suction cap. The climb takes over two days and about one in every hundred of the climbers make it. That is how nature works, the strongest survive and the species evolve.

Government official or worker.

Has been either elected or appointed to office and thereafter all actions are governed by a feel for how the public opinion or a superior is going to judge him, her or hen. Or the rules. The rules that state that everybody should be treated equal. No matter if blindly going for equality is idiotic, taken ALL circumstances into consideration.

Idiocy is idiocy even if it is made in the name of equality.

Everybody is free to go use all means they can, never give up and fetch them selves a place, a possibility to make history. To take a step beyond.

Go O’opy!

Van Persie Says:

Good point, chico! :)

Nature is above rules, law and so on.

BT Says:

It’s just been reported in the media here that the female player who got in with the same “had covid in the past 6 months” reason has been rounded up by border force and put into the same hotel as Djokovic and told she will also be deported. They are also hunting down an official who came in on the same reason. Doesn’t look good for Djokovic!

Van Persie Says:

It’s just been reported in the media here that the female player who got in with the same “had covid in the past 6 months” reason has been rounded up by border force and put into the same hotel as Djokovic and told she will also be deported.

But it is very interesting that Renata Voracova played already a tournament in Australia :) not a good image for the officials to do this “witch hunting” only after Nole was denied to entry. Nole does not lose anything with that, it shows only how inconsistent the Aussies did handle this from the beginning :D

Van Persie Says:

It is getting more and more ridiculous :)

Jeffrey Glass Says:

Outrageous. Thugs. Medical tyranny. Why can’t they accept a negative test? IF this were really about public health that would be what is required since everyone knows the “vaccinated” still get a and spread Covid.

Novak is officially my favorite player now.

chrisford1 Says:

Sometimes you get Emperor has no clothes moments. In this case, it comes from Rafa’s befuddlement. “If he wanted to be here, why did he not meet the requirements like everyone else??”
Like with Novak, Rafa makes a living going from foreign country to foreign country. He and his team know the drill. Like Novak and his team know the drill with over 20 years of tournaments gone to in foreign countries. Apparently, everyone on Novak’s Team is fine, no problems getting in.
Somehow, yet again, just Djokovic is in a mess.
That is where I disagree with Van Persie.
Djokovic, people close to them, have been doing this for decades..they should be able to understand and comply with nation entering requirements, tournament entering requirements, drug testing requirements, uniform kit requirements, play in accordance with ATP rules and requirements.
And in Djokovic’s case, meet all his dogs and family’s vaccine requirements or ‘exemptions” when they travel with him. He’s done that for decades.
Will he learn a lesson from his latest mess?
Doubtful.
He’s Djokovic. A magnificent champion, very bright guy and decent person – who just bumbles and stumbles a lot in life.
Hope Novak’s cantankerous Dad Srdjan wins that Naval command he wants to launch the Serbian fleet against Australia.

Wog Boy Says:

Well, VP is very right, Nole did follow the rules, the rules that were presented to him, to the dot, at least check your fact, though you are smart enough that you know the facts.
Someone else messed up, that’s so obvious now, for your information, TA was the one that applied for all exemptions, not the players, they are the ones who communicated with state and federal government, players were asked to submit their applications to TA according to request and requirements presented to them by TA and tournament director Craig Tiley, surprise surprise, they are the two person that nobody has seen nor heard from since Nole’s arrest and detention, Craig Tiley and the missing woman, TA President.

If you don’t trust me than you surely can trust forme AO director:

Nearer to home, former Davis Cup player Paul McNamee who ran the Australian Open from 1995 until 2006 as tournament director, joined those who think the 34-year-old deserved his day on court, not in court.

“It’s not fair. The guy played by the rules, he got his visa, he arrives, he’s a nine-time champion and whether people like it or not he’s entitled to fair play,” McNamee told ABC News.

“There’s no doubt there’s some disconnect between the state and the federal government.

“I hate to think politics are involved but it feels that way.”

Wog Boy Says:

Interesting facts, neither AO Director nor Tennis Australia President are Australians!
You are guessing right, they are …….?

Van Persie Says:

CF1,

I also disagree with you this time. Nole respected the rules everywhere he has been, always. Also this time, he travelled within the given rules, as far as I understand.

Colin Says:

This is absurd! If there is one thing Nole has always been noted for, apart from his tennis, it is his disapproval of vaccination. He was against it throughout his career, since long before we’d ever heard of corona virus- a somewhat selfish attitude for a family man. If his son had caught it this week, would his fans (not to say his family) be applauding him now?
I’ve had two jabs plus a booster, though I hate injections, and I am lurching on at age 87, though I’m gradually being defeated by arthritis.

Bala Says:

If you cant beat Novak on tennis court, the only other way to overcome Novak and stand between him and greatness would be the court of law.
Sadly this is what seems to be happening and a sort of witch hunt going. However cannot understand the silence of fellow tennis players, tennis bodies and the tournament conductors. it also reminds me on the support given to another fellow tennis player recently in China. I feel sorry for the great champion. I hope things get sorted out and we have a normal Aus Open next week. I cannot imagine if this would have happened to other greats like Federer and Nadal. Btw I am a Fed fan.

Van Persie Says:

Am glad, that he won the battle on court, do not expect him to win the tournament though, should he play.
