Carlos Alcaraz Says It’s Crazy He’s A Grand Slam Top Seed; Wants To Play With Nadal At Olympics
A year ago Carlos Alcaraz was just coming into his own. Now, the 20-year-old is seeded No. 1 at a Grand Slam for a first time at the French Open which begins on Sunday.
For the youngster, he can’t believe he’s seeded No. 1.
“It’s still crazy to see myself in top 1 seed in a Grand Slam,” Alcaraz said. “But for me, at same time is great. Is something that I work for to be there. I’m really happy to be No. 1 seed here in Roland Garros.”
Alcaraz is also looking ahead to another event in Paris: the 2024 Olympics. Alcaraz said it would be a dream to play doubles with Rafael Nadal at the event next summer.
“For me, it could be a dream playing doubles with him in the Olympics,” said Alcaraz. “So of course let’s see. Let’s see how he’s doing and how he’s going in this year. Hopefully he’s going great. But yeah, for me it could be a dream to play doubles with him.”
Alcaraz opens play on Monday against 21-year-old Italian Flavio Cobolli.
