On the upset tip were German Carina Witthoeft outlasting No. 26 Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-3, 5-7, 8-6, and Czech Kristyna Pliskova, twin sister of the current world No. 2, defeating No. 31 Roberta Vinci 7-6(6), 6-2.
