Seeds in action today in The Netherlands include (4)Verkerk vs. Burgsmuller in the French runner-up's first-ever grasscourt match, (WC)Hemmes, Jr. vs. (7)Clement, (1)Novak vs. Melzer, (8)Acasuso vs. van Lottum, and (Q)Petzschner vs. (5)Grosjean. Unseeds Kiefer and two-time champion Krajicek are also on court today.
Two of the three seeds in opening day action went down in Nottingham Monday, with German giant Alexander Popp beating (4)Spadea in straights, and Brit wildcard Alex Bogdanovic thrilling the locals with a win over struggling (5)Gambill. "It's definitely the best win of my career," said Bogdanovic, who lamented Jan-Mike's lack of weapons. "I was playing really well and he really couldn't hurt me." American and No. 8 seed Mardy Fish was the only seeded winner, dispatching of Korea's Lee in three sets. Snot-tingham seeds in action today are (1)El Aynaoui vs. Waske, Bjorkman vs. (2)Youzhny, and (7)Dent vs. Vahaly.

He's also picking Hewitt to ruin the ATP...During Queen's, Andy Roddick who tied the record for fastest serve at 149-mph, wasn't the only one benefiting for a super-charged radar gun, Andre Agassi had one clocked at 132-mph, and even Sebastien Grosjean smacked a 130-mph. "If I could take another Kremlin Cup, I would retire for sure." Dammit, just retire already...Kafelnikov is also not above taking a shot at current No. 1 Andre Agassi: "One thing I know for sure -- I would not stick around for as long as he has. I don't want people making fun of me chasing tennis balls on the court when I'm 33." News Flash: they don't make fun of you when you win, Yevgeny...French runner-up Martin Verkerk is still recovering from celebrating back in Belgium: "It was a big victory. They had a ceremony for me and it was as if we got a World Cup in soccer or something."
