American Spears Shoots for First Hit Single at WTA Quebec City
Posted on November 7, 2004American qualifier Abigail Spears will attempt to win her first career WTA title in her first career final at Quebec City Sunday when she faces fellow un-seed Martina Sucha.
Spears edged Russian Alina Jidkova 7-6 in the third in the semifinals, while Sucha also won a coin toss against Maria-Emilia Salerni 7-6 in the third.
Sucha is ranked No. 80, and won her lone title in 2002 at Hobart.
It will be the first meeting between Spears and the Slovak Sucha.
The doubles final will be Gullickson/Salerni vs. Callens/Stosur.
