McEnroe, Courier Advance to Semi Meeting at Senior Masters

John McEnroe trounced last year's finalist Thomas Muster 6-3, 6-1 Friday to advance to the semifinals against defending champ Jim Courier at the year-end senior Masters event in London.

Courier, who edged Cedric Pioline 6-4, 7-5, also met McEnroe last year in the semis en route to the title.

"I know it's going to get tougher tomorrow but this court suits me," McEnroe said. "Jim is one of the best players on the tour. He can play great on all surfaces but hopefully I can get off to a good start and serve big."

The second semifinal Saturday will see Sergi Bruguera (d. Jarryd) against Paul Haarhuis (d. Cash in three).
