McEnroe Losing Streak Continues at Seniors Memphis
Posted on October 6, 2006John McEnroe's losing streak continued in his opener Thursday at the senior tour stop in Memphis, dropping a third-set tiebreak to South African Wayne Ferreira 6-7(1), 6-3, 10-4.
Ferreira also beat McEnroe in their lone tour meeting at the Australian Open in 1992 in straight sets. In his last senior match, McEnroe lost the 3rd/4th place playoff to Sergi Bruguera at Charlotte.
Swede Magnus Larsson also won in his tour debut, rolling over Pat Cash 6-2, 6-1.
Friday's full slate of matches will be Aaron Krickstein vs. Cash, Todd Martin vs. Larsson, Jim Courier vs. Ferreira, and McEnroe vs. Mats Wilander.
