Unfit Stosur Withdraws from Australian Open

Posted on December 24, 2007

Aussie Sam Stosur, after being hospitalized in Florida in September with viral meningitis, has pulled from the Australian Women's Hardcourt and the Australian Women's Open saying she is not fit.

"I am very disappointed I won't be able to compete during the Australian summer," Stosur told the AP. "I have been back training for the last three weeks but I've realized that I won't be fully ready to compete at the Australian Women's Hardcourts, which starts in six days, and I've also withdrawn from the Australian Open."
