Clijsters to Return to Competition in World TeamTennis

Posted on March 13, 2009

Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters will return to competitive tennis this summer playing for the World TeamTennis St. Louis Aces.

In May Clijsters will also play a mixed doubles exhibition with Tim Henman against Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

Clijsters will make her WTT debut on July 21 in St. Louis, and also play in Philadelphia on July 22.

Clijsters retired from the WTA Tour in 2007, and will be joined in WTT play by Agassi, John McEnroe and the Williams sisters.

"I am very honored that Billie Jean invited me," said Clijsters. "To play as a team is a very attractive concept. I always wanted to play World TeamTennis but it was difficult to combine with the WTA tournaments and my European season. I am very excited to play WTT for the first time."
