Nadia Petrova is the lone Top 10 headliner this week at the MPS Group Championships in
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., formerly the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island.
The downgraded prize money event has also been reduced to a 32 draw, with additional seeds
Caroline Wozniacki,
Dominika Cibulkova,
Patty Schnyder,
Aleksandra Wozniak,
Shuai Peng,
Alona Bondarenko, and
Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
Aussie
Jelena Dokic withdrew from the event citing fatigue.
Wildcards went to U.S. teen Madison Keys who makes her WTA debut, Cibulkova, and Slovak
Daniela Hantuchova.
If Keys can manage to get by Russian
Alla Kudryavtseva, she could see a potential meeting with the top-seeded Petrova in the second round.
First-round meetings of note include (7) Bondarenko vs. India's
Sania Mirza, (5) Wozniak vs. American
Jill Craybas, and (2) Wozniacki vs. hot-handed Aussie Sam Stosur.
