The seasonís first big clay test gets underway at the Monte Carlo Tennis Rolex Masters from April 12-19 in Monaco. Rafael Nadal will be out to defend his 2008 title and see if he can top rival Roger Federer in the final for a fourth straight year.
Federer was not expected to play but the Swiss has accepted a late wild card. Joining Nadal and Federer will be the red-hot Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. Also entered are French favorites Gael Monfils, Gilles Monfils and Richard Gasquet.
Nikolay Davydenko is slated to compete along with new star Juan Martin Del Potro.

A look back at 2008: Clay King Rafael Nadal wrapped up his fourth Monte Carlo Rolex title with a 7-5, 7-5 triumph over Roger Federer. It was the third straight year Nadal-Federer met in the final. Nadal also won the doubles title teaming with countryman Tommy Robredo to become just the second player since 1990 to win both singles and doubles at the Masters event.
