Federer Has No Problem Earning Houston Berth

Following his triumphant win Sunday at the Tennis Masters Series Toronto, the ATP/ITF officially awarded Roger Federer the first berth in the prestigious year-end Tennis Masters Cup in Houston, Texas.

“I’m very happy to qualify for the Tennis Masters Cup for the third time in succession,” said Federer, who is guaranteed of finishing among the Top 8. “I always play well at the Tennis Masters Cup and last year’s title was one of the best tournament wins of my career. The top 8 players will be competing and I look forward to defending my title.”

Federer, the current World No. 1, has been on a roll having won five of the last six tournaments that he has entered including Wimbledon, and the Swiss star rides a career-high 23-match win streak into Cincinnati.

Federer will be joined by seven other players who have yet to be determined in the eight man round robin field which will be held November 13-21 at the Westside Tennis Club in Houston.
