Dokic Stumbles Tuesday at Hyderabad

Top-seeded Na Li of China led all four seeds in play into the second round Tuesday at the WTA stop in Hyderabad, India, defeating Swiss Marie-Gayanay Mikaelian 6-3, 6-3.

Other seeded winners on the day were (2) Anna-Lena Groenefeld (d. (Q) Minella), (6)Tamarine Tansugarn (d. (Q) Amanmuradova 6-1 in the third), and (8) Maria Kirilenko (d. (LL) Poutchek).

Former Top 10er Jelena Dokic, currently ranking outside the Top 200 on the WTA Rankings, hobbled to a straight-set loss to Mara Santangelo, nursing an injured thigh.

Other un-seeds into round two in Hyderabad were Melinda Czink (d. Uberoi, coming from a set down), India's sweetheart Sania Mirza (d. Sescioreanu), Evie Dominikovic (d. (LL) Hisamatsu), and (Q) Jarmila Gajdosova (d. (Q) Ting).
