WTA Player Bohmova Sees Shoplifting Charges Reduced

Posted on May 19, 2006

WTA Tour player Katerina Bohmova and her mother, who were arrested for shoplifting from The Avenues mall in Jacksonville, Fl., during the Amelia Island tournament in April, plead guilty this month to lesser charges of petty theft in Duval County Court.

The 19-year-old Czech and her mother, both named Katerina, have made full restitution according to Assistant State Attorney Adam Urra as reported by the Florida Times-Union.

Bohmova was a wildcard entrant at the Bausch and Lomb Championships on Amelia Island, and after stuffing Belk's store items into a purse and bag, claimed they were merely looking for a restroom, and didn't think they had to pay for items until they left the mall.
