Hingis Announces Positive Test for Cocaine at Wimbledon

Posted on November 1, 2007

Former No. 1 Martina Hingis dropped a bomb Thursday, announcing that this year at Wimbledon she tested positive for cocaine.

Last month Hingis called an early end to her 2007 campaign after struggling with a hip injury.

According to the AP, Hingis admitted Thursday she has been accused of testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon, but she denied using the drug, then announced her retirement from professional tennis.

"I find this accusation so horrendous, so monstrous that I've decided to confront it head on by talking to the press," she said. "I am frustrated and angry. I believe that I am absolutely 100 percent innocent."
