ATP REVIEW/PREVIEWHenman captured the D.C. title (ATP)
There were a pair of unlikely hardcourt winners over the weekend, and one very likely claycourt winner. Tim Henman and Wayne Ferreira collected their first titles of the year on hardcourts, with Henman turning away Fernando Gonzalez in Washington, and Ferreira saving match points to upset Lleyton Hewitt in three sets in LA. "I lost a couple of other finals in the States," Henman said. "I lost in Indian Wells and in LA, so I was keen to get a win on American soil and also my 10th title. So it's a special day for me. As I shook his hand, he said 'See you on Tuesday,' because we play first round in Montreal." In the Washington doubles final, Kafelnikov/Sargsian d. Haggard/Hanley in three sets, while in LA wildcards Gambill/Parrott d. (4)Eagle/Schalken in three sets. On the dirt in Sopot, Guillermo Coria won his third consecutive title in three weeks, beating back unseeded Spaniard David Ferrer. In the Sopot doubles final, Polish wildcards Fyrstenberg/Matkowski upset (1)Cermak/Friedl in three sets.

Matches of interest Monday in Montreal (see tournament preview) are A.Martin vs. (11)Srichaphan, (4)Moya vs. Clement, Lapentti vs. Rusedski, (1)Agassi vs. (WC)Niemeyer, (WC)Larose vs. Kuerten, Youzhny vs. (8)Schuettler, El Aynaoui vs. Fish, Stepanek vs. Blake, Robredo vs. HT.Lee, and (WC)Nestor vs. Ginepri.

WTA REVIEW/PREVIEW
While Kim Clijsters will take over the No. 1 spot in the coming weeks due to Serena being out with surgery, it is her countrywoman Justine Henin-Hardenne who has looked dominant, again beating back Lleyton's girlfriend in the three-set San Diego final. "She's become a lot better (on hardcourts), a lot stronger," Clijsters said. "That's where she was struggling a lot. She gets a lot more aggressive." Doesn't sound like a struggle anymore, especially against Clijsters who continues to show an inability to put away big matches. In the doubles final, (2)Clijsters/Sugiyama beat (3)Davenport/Raymond 6-4, 7-5 for their sixth title of the year. In the Saturday Sopot final, No. 3 seed Anna Pistolesi crushed Klara "Kouky" Koukalova 6-2, 6-0, and unseeded Perebiynis/Talaja won the doubles over (Q)Ani/Prusova. It was the Israeli's first singles title of 2003, and she improved her career mark to 7-0 in finals, while it was the first career final for Kouky.

On court today in Helsinki (see tournament previews) are An.Barna vs. Cervanova, Sprem vs. Torrens Valero, Chladkova vs. Leon Garcia, and Douchevina vs. Benesova. On court in LA are Husarova vs. Grande, Srebotnik vs. Sharapova, Likhovtseva vs. Morigami, Tanasugarn vs. Pierce, Parra vs. Haynes, Cho vs. Loit, Razzano vs. Obata, Asagoe vs. Callens, and Bartoli vs. Snyder.
