Moodie Ousts No. 8 Seed at ATP Ho Chi MinhPosted on September 28, 2005 Wimbledon doubles champion Wesley Moodie displayed his ever-improving singles game Tuesday at the ATP stop in Ho Chi Minh, ousting No. 8 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-4, 7-6(2).
"It was a pretty good first-round match," Kohlschreiber said. "He played the big points well, that's why he won. I played good, I just didn't have any chances." Seeded winners on the day were (5) Cyril Saulnier (d. Wessels) and (7) Lars Burgsmuller (d. (Q) Pless in three). Unseeded players into the second round were American qualifier Cecil Mamiit (d. (WC) Thron), Aussie serving machine Wayne Arthurs (d. Brzezicki in two tiebreaks), and Italian qualifier Uros Vico (d. Tipsarevic from a set down). On Wednesday's schedule at the Vietnam Open are (WC) P.Amritraj vs. Vanek, (4) Carlsen vs. Bjorkman, H.-T.
