Top-Seeded Massu Shakily Into Quarters ATP Casablanca

Top seed Nicolas Massu recovered from a stumble Wednesday on the dirt at the ATP claycourt stop in Casablanca, dropping a first-set tiebreak before storming back and losing only four games in a 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-1 win to move into the quarterfinals.

The two other seeds in action Wednesday both suffered straight-set losses when Frenchman Nicolas Mahut ousted No. 5-seeded countryman Arnaud Clement, and Czech Jiri Vanek beat No. 6 Jurgen Melzer.

Other unseeded winners were Germans Bjorn Phau (d. (Q) Saoudi) and Alexander Waske (d. Muller).

Scheduled for Thursday in Casablanca are (Q) Gicquel vs. (2) Horna, (8) Simon vs. (WC) Tahiri, Mayer vs. (3) C.Rochus, and (7) Bracciali vs. Waske.
