Jankovic Headlines WTA Canadian Challenge Bell

Posted on October 29, 2006

The withdrawal of Lindsay Davenport has left the Quebec City Challenge Bell WTA Tier III event without any superstar names, but with a handful of up-and-coming names on the WTA Tour.

Serb riser Jelena Jankovic is the top seed, joined by seeds Marion Bartoli of France, Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson, France's Severine Bremond, Austrian Sybille Bammer, Americans Shenay Perry and Jamea Jackson, and Russian Olga Poutchkova.

Joining Americans Perry and Jackson are unseeded veteran Chanda Rubin, Vania King and Ashley Harkleroad.

Three wildcards went to Canadians Valerie Tetreault, Stephanie Dubois, and Marie-Eve Pelletier. Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak is the only homecountry direct acceptance in the draw.

In last year's final American Amy Frazier beat Arvidsson in straight sets.
