Top seed Simona Halep rolled into the semifinals of the clay stop in Prague blasting past Magdalena Frech 6-2, 6-0.

The Romanian took the last five games in her best match of the week which saw two tight three set wins en route.

“The whole game… was better today,” said Halep.

“I’m happy that I can play better and better day by day. It was a good one and I’ll take it.”

The 2-time Grand Slam champion will await the Begu-Sorribes Tormo winner which halted due to darkness with Begu having taken the first set.

Former Top 5 Elise Mertens joined Halep in the last four by knocking out an Eugenie Bouchard 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Mertens will meet Kristyna Pliskova in her semi. Mertens leads the Czech 2-0 having won two meetings last year. Pliskova made the Prague final in 2017.
