Serena Williams, who on Sunday voiced concerns about her participation in the Athens Olympics, turned around on Monday and accused the tennis media at the Nasdaq-100 in Miami of distorting her message."I'm very disappointed in you guys," Serena told the assembled media on Monday at Miami. "I woke up this morning and I'm on the cover of USA Today saying 'Serena is unsure if she's playing the Olympics.' I never said that. If you look back at my transcripts I just said that I was aware of the things that happen in the world and I will not let things that happen in the world stop me from living my life."
Much like past incidents of Serena's reality-bending, Serena had plainly told reporters of her concerns over security in Athens while failing to commit to playing for the U.S.
"I think my security and my safety and my life are a little bit more important that tennis," Serena told the media on Sunday. "And if it became a real concern to where I personally wouldn't feel comfortable, then I wouldn't go to Athens because I like my life, I like to live, you know, I like waking up in the morning."
