Argentina blew past France, while Spain needed the deciding doubles to edge Sweden in play Monday at the ATP World Team Cup in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Argentina's Guillermo Coria dusted France's Michael Llodra 6-1, 6-4, while reigning French Open champion Gaston Gaudio was less than satisfied after defeating Arnaud Clement 6-4, 6-4.

"I am not playing my best tennis, but last year the same happened," Gaudio said. "I came here and I didn't play like I did in the French. So, we'll see, maybe next week I'm going to play better than this."

In the doubles the French won a pride point with Clement/Llodra defeating Argentina's Guillermo Canas and Juan Ignacio Chela 6-1, 6-4.

Spain and Sweden went into the doubles tied at 1-1 after Sweden's Thomas Johansson shocked Tommy Robredo in straights, then Dave Ferrer evened things with a bagel-in-the-second win over Jonas Bjorkman. In the decider Swedes Bjorkman/T.Johansson won the first set in a tiebreak before the Spaniards stormed back 6-3, 6-3 for the win.

On Tuesday in Dusseldorf France enters a must-win against the defending Chileans (Massu vs. Clement, Gonzalez vs. Grosjean), while the Czech Republic enters a similar situation against powerhouse Argentina (Novak vs. Coria, Berdych vs. Canas).
