Zheng Completes Chinese Sweep at WTA Estoril
Posted on May 8, 2006Jie Zheng beat Na Li 6-7(5), 7-5, ret. when Li was forced to quit with leg cramps and heat illness Sunday in the first all-Chinese final in the history of the WTA Tour.
"I feel so good," said Zheng, who raised to career record to 4-0 against Li. "I feel so sorry for Na, but it was a good match today and I look forward to Roland Garros."
In the Saturday doubles final the No. 2-seeded Ting Li and Tiantian Sun beat Gisela Dulko and Maria Sanchez Lorenzo 6-2, 6-2 to start the eventual Chinese sweep, winning their second title of the year.
