Rain Causes Double-Ups at ATP Poertschach

Players will be forced to contest two matches in a day Thursday at the ATP claycourt stop in Poertschach after rain allowed for the completion of only two matches Wednesday.

Two unseeded players advanced into the quarterfinals Wednesday amidst wet weather, with Austrian Oliver Marach ousting No. 8 seed Gilles Simon 7-6(3), 6-1, and Romanian Andrei Pavel pounding Lleyton Hewitt-conqueror Marco Daniel 7-5, 6-0.

Scheduled for Thursday are (1) Davydenko vs. (Q) Ramirez Hidalgo, Gasquet vs. Melzer, Marach vs. Pavel, Starace vs. (6) Almagro, Novak vs. (5) Chela, (7) Horna vs. Seppi, Muller vs. (Q) Monaco, then Gasquet or Melzer vs. Novak or Chela, then Seppi or Horna vs. Muller or Monaco, then Ramirez Hidalgo or Davydenko vs. Starace or Almagro.
