Harkleroad Upsets Seed at WTA Quebec City

The Bell Challenge in Quebec City lost two seeds Tuesday when American Ashley Harkleroad ousted No. 3 Sofia Arvidsson 7-6(5), 6-3, and Russian Anastassia Rodionova beat No. 7 Jamea Jackson when the American retired with a right groin strain.

Seeded winners were No. 2 Marion Bartoli besting Galina Voskoboeva 6-1, 6-4, and No. 5 Sybille Bammer coming back to beat Victoria Azarenka 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Other winners on the day were Americans Vania King (d. Lepchenko from a set down) and lucky loser Abigail Spears (d. Pratt in three), and three qualifiers in Tanja Ostertag (d. (Q) Olaru from a set down) and Greta Arn (d. (WC) Dubois) of Germany, and American Lilia Osterloh (d. (WC) Pelletier in three).
