Venus Into Semis, Serena Exits at WTA Championships

The possibility of an all-Williams finale at the WTA Tour Championships evaporated on Friday when Serena Williams withdrew prior to her final round robin match citing a stomach muscle injury.
Serena was scheduled to play Russian Elena Dementieva, and a win would have advanced her into the semifinals. Serena's previous round-robin match was a loss against sister Venus, winning the first set but them losing 12 of the last 13 games.
Ana Ivanovic also withdrew from the event Friday after battling a virus during the week.
Saturday's semifinals will be Venus Williams vs. Jelena Jankovic, and an all-Russian in Vera Zvonareva vs. Elena Dementieva, with matches shown live on the Tennis Channel.
