Djokovic the Best as ATP Celebrates 3rd Year of Video Challenge

Posted on April 1, 2009

This year celebrates the third year of the Hawkeye video replay system, first used at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami in 2006.

"It's fun for the crowd," Svetlana Kuznetsova told the media in Miami this year. "I think it's a great thing."

According to the ATP World Tour, the women have a better success rate with challenges, 36% to 35% for the men. Those statistics are somewhat skewed, as some players take the challenge system more seriously than others. Some players will save challenges for when they absolutely think a ball is out, whereas some players will use challeges to "take a break," or just because they have some challenges left during a set or tiebreak.

Serb Novak Djokovic has the best winning percentage on the men's side when using challenges according to the ATP.

"It's not that I have the eye of the falcon or something," Djokovic told the media in Miami.

Here are the Top 10 on the men's side with the best percentage of calling challenges correctly since the video replay system was initiated in 2006 (minimum 75 challenges):

1. Djokovic, Novak  SRB 92-76 55%
