Rafael Nadal Responsibly Drinks Bacardi [Video]
World No. 1 Rafael Nadal has been named the new Bacardi Limited Global Social Responsibility Ambassador.
“I enjoy socializing with my friends and family and drinking responsibly is important no matter what your game is. That is why I’m teaming up with Bacardi Limited as I want to take the lead in promoting social responsibility to fans and consumers around the world,” Nadal said.
The campaign’s first Global Social Responsibility Ambassador in 2008 was seven-time Formula One star Michael Schumacher whose three-year term ended last December. The racer was rumored to be earning in the range of $1.5 million dollars per year from Bacardi.
“We are very excited to welcome Rafa to the Bacardi family as our new Global Social Responsibility Ambassador. Rafael Nadal is a world champion at the top of his game whose lifestyle and dedication reflects the values of our Company and this campaign,” said Séamus McBride, Bacardi Limited President and CEO.
Bacardi will soon be announcing the next phase of “Champions Drink Responsibly” as it will be staging a number of events with Nadal around international tennis tournaments, including Madrid, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open.
The campaign was created by the UK’s 23red.
Nadal is in South Florida where he was officially introduced as the ambassador last night at a special event on Miami Beach. He is the top seed at the Sony Ericsson Open, an event which he has never won. He’ll begin play this weekend.
