Watch Sabine Lisicki Hit The Fastest Serve Ever Recorded For A Woman [Video]
WTA star Sabine Lisicki lived up to her “boom, boom” nickname last night in Stanford by cracking the fastest serve ever recorded for a female tennis player. Radar and stats company IDS officially confirmed Lisicki’s history-making blast at 131mph which breaks Venus Williams’s previous best serve speed of 129mph.
The record serve didn’t help Lisicki. Not only did her opponent, Ana Ivanovic, return it (though it was out), the Serb went on to win the match 76, 61 in the first round.
A list of the fastest serve speeds ever recorded on the WTA:
1 Sabine Lisicki 210.8 km/h (131.0 mph) 2014 Stanford Classic
2 Venus Williams 207.6 km/h (129.0 mph) 2007 US Open
3 Serena Williams 207.0 km/h (128.6 mph) 2013 Australian Open
4 Julia Görges 203.0 km/h (126.1 mph) 2012 French Open
5 B. Schultz-McCarthy 202.7 km/h (126.0 mph) 2007 Indian Wells Masters
