Andy Murray Wins BBC’s 2016 Sports Personality Of The Year, But Wife Kim Didn’t Vote For Him? [Video]
Andy Murray took home top honors winning BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year for 2016 for a third time.
“I’d like to thank everyone who voted,” Murray said in a video message. “I really appreciate your support. And I’d like to thank my team – they make a lot of sacrifices for me; they’re away form their family at times of the year like this.”
Murray joked wife Kim didn’t vote for him. Or was it a joke?
Murray, who also won the award in 2013 and 2015, received 247,419 votes with triathlete Alistair Brownlee second and show jumper Nick Skelton third.
Murray is currently training in Miami preparing for the 2017 season. He took the award from boxer Lennox Lewis.
“I’m sure Novak will be wanting to get back to the top spot,” Murray added. “But it’s taken me so long to get here that I want to stay there as long as I can, and that’s why I’m over here now.
“I’m working on my game and trying to get myself in shape so I can start 2017 as best as possible.”
