On Tuesday the ITF released their official team rosters for the Davis Cup quarterfinals next weekend. The top two in the world, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, are both battling elbow injuries and were in doubt for the event.

And it’s Murray who will not play while Djokovic will compete for Serbia as they meet Spain, who will not have the services of Rafael Nadal in part because the tie, played on hard court, conflicts with his clay preparations.

Murray is still scheduled to play in Monte Carlo as is Djokovic and Nadal.

Nick Kyrgios, Jack Sock, David Goffin and Gilles Simon are among the other top names to play.

3 Comments for Andy Murray Pulls Out Of Davis Cup, Novak Djokovic Will Play

lakie Says:

I think Djok is playing because he thinks DC will inspire him to once again play with passion.

RZ Says:

@lakie – maybe so. I really thought Doha at the beginning of the year (when Djokovic saved match point against Verdasco and then won the tournament) was going to be the starting point of his return to form but obviously not. Maybe Davis Cup will do it.

RZ Says:

Anyone know what Bautista Agut is not playing DC for Spain? Seems like he would be a top choice for selection.
