Daniil Medvedev Threw Money At The Chair Umpire After Losing At Wimbledon [Video]
Following a 5-set loss to Ruben Bemelmens, Daniil Medvedev decided it was a good idea to throw some coins in the direction of chair umpire Mariana Alves.
Alves slapped the 21-year-old Russian with a point penalty at the start of the seventh game. And earlier asked for her to be replaced.
Afterward, Medvedev apologized for his action.
“I was just frustrated, it has no meaning, I apologise,” said Medvedev who earlier in the week stunned Stan Wawrinka.
“I was frustrated to lose the match, maybe there were some bad calls, it can happen in sports,” he added. “I was just disappointed and [did] a stupid thing.”
