Laura Siegrmund – always a joy to see her compete in Stuttgart. She seems to disappear during much of the rest of the season but she played Charleston and I expect her to have a good run at home.

But really picking a WTA bracket – might as well pick names out of a hat, as Margot says.

Hope to “see” you in Stuttgart and Istanbul WTA brackets, Andy Mira and Margot! Best of Luck xxoo

AndyMira Says:

Hey hey hey j!…It’s nice/lovely/speechless! to hear u ranting here again Boss!…hehehe…keep on doing it k?

Oh!…I look at Stuttgart Bracket..and MY GOD!!..heavy encounter already in the 1st rd!….Urgh!..Don’t know who’s to pick!!
Coco vs Sloane,Strycova vs Siegemund[Siegemund won it last year,so maybe a little bit motivated..and Strycova is very reliable 1st rounder too]..

Julia.G vs Sevastova[Julia go to the final in Charleston..while Sevastova also has a chance to win this rd…Also Maria vs Garcia,Pliskova vs Kiki Bertens,Petra vs Angie[God!..mouth watering!]

I think,as usual u & Margot will kick my a@# pretty hard again this week!Hahaha…So,bring it on!!

jalep Says:

Hey AndyMira — you’ve got to be so happy about Rafa right now. Congrats to you and your favorite. I see you in the brackets. Everyone picked Rafa again and I don’t expect that to stop any time soon 😀

Well the Welsh Witch may kick our butts but I barely had time and was too confused and tired to follow who or what was going last weekend in Fed Cup. I see we both went with Kvitova FTW, even tho she played her heart out. Ironic that she has Kerber first round in Stuttgart too – sheesh. Part of me wants Angie to win at home…(very possible)

Anyway I wanted to highlight my favorite 15 year old – Marta Kostyuk, from Ukraine. We’ll get to see her again in a WTA main draw in Stuttgart. She’s a tough one — she fought her way through Stuttgart qualifying. I think most everyone in the bracket picked Marta to win her first round match over 21 year old German wild card Lottner.

Marta keeps on kicking butt in 2018. She mostly plays ITF still but we all saw what she can do in the main draw at AO this year. And she’s racked up a win/loss 2018 record of 20/8. Not too bad also that she reached a wta ranking of 142 after beating Alize Cornet in the qualie final and she started the year ranked 522. I can’t think of any 15 year old in the wta more ambitious than darling Marta.

I’ll be asleep but her match comes on during your evening hours, maybe if you can see her match post a report about it!

Have a good day – 🤗

AndyMira Says:

Hey j!…God!..i wrote a long post to u but when i send…puff!internet disconnected! And i lost all the glory & long post to u!URGHHH!!….

So,yeah..about Marta..yeah..i’m keeping my eyes closely on her j…she got reputation now…and Garcia maybe in danger in 2nd rd…But unfortunately i’m unable to watch Marta j…and my TV don’t make a coverage for 250 event…

I see u too picked Petra to win j..I’m very surprised Angie lost easily in Fed Cup..62 62!…And they played in German..Wow!…But then i read Angie said, she just changed her coach & practice a new serve & stuff…so.it maybe take a while for her to get a good result…

Hey!Thank u mucho for the congrats k?Alhamdulillah! So happy for Rafa j!…

Best of luck to u in Bracket j!…I’m sure you’re going to kick my butt again this week!!Hahaha…

AndyMira Says:

Hey hey hey j!…This article is for u darlin’!

Willow Says:

Cant believe how badly Radwanska lost to Vekic ?

Margot Says:

Waving to jalep :) Good luck to you too.
AM: the only butt I’ll be kicking is my own…;)

jalep Says:

Thanks for all the good links, AM!

Really appreciated. Had not seen any of them.

But I did watch Marta lose in the third set to Carolne Garcia this morning. I thought that would be a bridge to far for the teenager. But she played a fine 2nd set and came close in the third. Very proud of her. She’s up 25 places after efforts in Stuttgart to 133.

I don’t watch Rafa or Roger other than highlights – and I won’t even watch a Novak match because it’s depressing. Not that I don’t like Rafa and Roger…it’s just that gosh, I’ve seen them beat each other and everyone else so much; given the choice I’ll watch WTA over ATP reruns but that’s just me…

And I get fired up about the brackets, even tho most of the time it’s impossible to pick. Rafa winning is safe pick. And I’m happy for the Rafans.

AndyMira Says:

Hey j!…Morning to u!!..U enjoy watching tennis so far m’lady??..But,urgh!..a little disappointed Marta lost!…But,like u said she maybe needs time to develope her mental toughness, stamina & tennis skills too…She’s definitely will be one to watch in the future…

And i don’t blame u for not watching rafa or rog j!It become too boring?Like Skeeze said..hehe..that’s okay!I understand!…

About the Bracket…yep!..i was right!U & Margot kicking my butt relentlessly atm!!Hahahaha….Ouucchhh!..I think i have to take a break & regroup…i lost my mojo lol!!

jalep Says:

You are so funny… Not bored – tennis is not boring but if there’s time to watch tennis and a Rafa match is on or a Svitolina match — I watch Svitolina. Same with Roger — Svitolina over Roger lol.

Yes well, the brackets are purely a guessing game (except Rafa) right now. And you can’t count on any picks in these wta tournaments — it was dumb to pick Kvitova (like we did) when she just played her heart out for her country in Fed Cup. And your brackets are better than mine. Okay maybe not Istanbul – you still in single digits but hahaha…Sabalenka was a pretty bad pick to go deep after starring for Belarus. Woz should win in that field with her eyes closed but you never know if she’s there for the win in such a small tournament or just fulfilling a contract. Stuttgart is like an ATP 500 tournament – right now I just hope Simona beats Coco!!

You are a Rafa fan — a much loved one and that’s where your Mojo is, I imagine 🤗

jalep Says:

AM…

God, I love Goffin, that guy looks small next to Karen Khachanov. Just when I think he will lose, he wins! And he just might make it past RBA to meet Rafa this time! That’s a good pick for most of us.

AndyMira Says:

Hey back j!…Yeah, yeah…that’s why i called u The Queen of WTA…coz u love WTA so much j!…Hey,u didn’t answer Big Al on TG?He’s posting something on WTA thread…

And yeah, yeah too on my Istanbul Bracket!…Hehehe…I was picking with my kneecap clearly!..Duh!!

About ‘a much loved Rafan’…a’ah!…correction!..much hate one more correctly imo..hehehe..

Hey j!..i can’t believe that Petra lost!..She was amazing in Fed Cup…I thought she will use that momentum this week…But,her conqueror,Angie also retired yes?I still not read it why that happen??

AndyMira Says:

Yeah j!…i know u love Goffin…i still remember everything u know!I think he has a big shot at RBA coz RBA’s form not ‘that’ good atm…

jalep Says:

Yes? You think? Wee Wizard vs RBA is always good imo.

Thanks for the heads up that Big Al posting on WTA. Would have completely missed it because I was staying out of that thread on TG after the spamming all over it.

Your memory is definitely better than mine! And I thank you again for helping drum up support for WTA. It doesn’t get the attention it deserves, imnsho.

xxoo dear AM.

Margot Says:

What’s up with Angie? Anyone know?

Margot Says:

Agree with AM about Busta Gut, only just scraped past Mannarino. And why oh why are all these young guys sporting old men’s beards? Hey boys, that is what you do if you are going bald. Don’t jump the gun, it’s not a good look.

jalep Says:

Hello Margot, nice to see you.

Ya, Angie said her right thigh was painful sliding on the clay. She said it started a few days ago but today it was too much. She’s not on the list to play Prague next week, which is good for time to rest and hope she’ll be ready to go for Madrid.

She got the win in Stuttgart over Petra tho. And the Czech players are all gone from Stuttgart. Expecting Karolina to go out next to Ostapenko but … I’m bad at guessing these things. 😊

Svitolina looked a bit rusty and got lucky that 18 year old impressive Czech, Vondrousova had to retire…don’t know if she just needs rest before Prague or what.

But looking at who is left – Simona maybe wants it – hoping? The quarters all look like good matches. Dread it all if Coco wins tho, lol…

jalep Says:

I’m in moderation 😓 too much talking about WTA.

jalep Says:

Right thigh painful and needs a rest, Margot.

Willow Says:

Why would you be in moderation Jalep when this thread is supposed to be about the WTA, defeats the object lol ?

AndyMira Says:

Aik!…You’re in moderation j?For too much talking WTA??REALLY??

And i’m so glad for once the WTA thread on TX seems ‘having fun’ atm….There’s The Queen..and there’s the Witch Queen..there’s a White Queen[Al]…and there’s a slave of the Queens[me!]hahaha…Oh!..we’re a complete set!..Hope everyone who interested in WTA will join us here..Like j said WTA doesn’t get the attention they deserves…

AndyMira Says:

M!…I see u still fussing about mens & beard!Hahahaha!…It’s kinda cool M!..Like Paire right??…But,can’t imagine if they’re drinking milk shake!..Eeewww!!

jalep Says:

LOL, God only knows, Willow.

Perhaps the paragraphs I tried to post were just too much for someone?

Belated congrats on Rafa winning another MC, Willow 😚

jalep Says:

Why, now you should be in moderation too, AM for talking about beards on a WTA thread!😧

Don’t forget to do a Prague Bracket this weekend AM. No lounging around.

I have much to say about beards but I do not dare!

AndyMira Says:

Hey j!…Oh!..Now beards is the dangerous words??What r we going to talk then??

Oh yeah j!…There’s a LOT of Brackets that needs to be fill this weekend j!…My eyes & head start spinning now!Urgh!…It’s fun!..but also very taxing job to finish it!

Also Stuttgart Bracket is really a mess atm j!…Full of strawberry colours!Lol!!Hehehe…Who would thunk it!!

Margot Says:

Thanks for the info on Angie jalep, hope she is OK for Madrid, as you gals know am huge fan.
AM, the beard situation is getting worse, I tell you worse! That handsome young Greek god has a horror and don’t get me started on sweaty see through pale shorts……At least dear preppy has the decency to be clad in black.
Love WTA too. Following Rybarikova, Osaka and Ostapenko with great interest. Really like Rybarikova’s oh so easy flowing style. Simona played very well in sets 2 and 3 to get by her. Cahill wasn’t there, don’t think she sulked so much.

Willow Says:

Thankyou Jalep, good to see you here ;-)
