Mannarino Masters Korda For Astana Title
In Astana, Kazakhstan, sixth-seeded Adrian Mannarino rallied to top No. 5 seed Sebastian Korda 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to collect his fourth career title.
“At the beginning of the match I was not feeling my best,” Mannarino said to the ATP. “I was a little tight. And then when I was down in the second set I started to try and enjoy the match and play with less stress. I tried some tough shots and it worked out pretty well. I got a bit lucky to come back in the second set and then in the third set I was feeling better. I am pretty happy with that match.”
The 35-year-old lefty Mannarino hit five aces and broke serve four times in the match, dominating on Korda’s second serve. It was Korda, though, up 6-4 and with a break 2-1 before the Frenchman ran off 11 of the last 14 games.
Mannarino was playing his 14th career final while the 23-year-old Korda was seeking his second career title in his sixth final. Korda is now 0-5 in hard court finals.
