Carlos Alcaraz: I’m Still Not 100%, I’m Still Feeling Pain
After withdrawing from Basel, Carlos Alcaraz will give it a go this week at the Paris Masters.
The Wimbledon champion was been battling glute and foot injuries this month, and today he said he’s still in pain.
“I’m not gonna say that I’m 100% because it could be a lie,” Alcaraz said. “At this time of the year, you know, after a long year, I think almost every player has a little bit of problems in their bodies, you know.
“I’m feeling in that way. I’m feeling a little bit of pain, you know, but I had a really good recovery these weeks. I’m coming here feeling well enough, you know, to do a good result here.”
Alcaraz, who’s last title came at SW19, has a lot to play for the next few weeks. He and Djokovic are locked in a battle for the No. 1 ranking. Right now, Djokovic leads by 500 points with 2,500 total up for grabs in Paris and Turin.
The two rivals have already practiced together.
“We spoke before coming here to Paris and we, yeah, we talk about if we can practice one day. It happen yesterday. He won,” Alcaraz said of the practice with Djokovic.
Alcaraz is on court Tuesday in Paris against Roman Safiullin.
