Unseeded players moving into the quarters were Spaniard Guillermo "G-Lo" Garcia-Lopez (d. Hernych), Italian Andreas Seppi (d. (Q) Ascione from a set down), and Frenchman Gilles Simon (d. Sanguinetti from a set down).
