Posted on May 13, 2006

No. 3 seed Shahar Peer ousted Alona Bondarenko 7-5, 6-0 to reach the semifinals Friday in Prague. Joining the Israeli is unseeded Kaia Kanepi, a 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 winner over No. 6 seed Maria Elena Camerin.

Kanepi will be playing a WTA semifinal for the second time, having gone that far on the hardcourts of Kolkata last year. Peer and Kanepi have never before played each other.

In the bottom half, Sam Stosur and Peng Shuai will face off. The fifth-seeded Stosur took care of No. 4 seed Emilie Loit 6-4, 6-3 while the seventh-seeded Peng edged wildcard Magdalena Rybarikova 7-5 6-4, to reach her first clay semifinal.
