Top-seeded
Nikolay Davydenko continued to show fine clay form Friday at the ATP stop in Poertschach, rolling past unseeded Czech
Jiri Novak 6-2, 6-2 to reach his second final of the claycourt season.
The winner last year when the event was held in St. Poelten, the Russian is in his second 2006 claycourt final after losing to
David Nalbandian in Estoril.
Davydenko will face a fresher opponent in the final in unseeded Romanian
Andrei Pavel, who received a walkover in the semifinals when No. 7 seed
Luis Horna withdrew due to a back injury.
Davydenko has won both his career claycourt meetings against Pavel.
The doubles final Saturday will be unseeded
Oliver Marach/Cyril Suk, who ousted No. 2 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi/Mark Knowles in the semis, against the top-seeded pair of Paul Hanley/Jim Thomas.
