Top seed and defending champion James Blake earned a quarterfinal slot with a comfortable straight sets 6-3, 6-2 victory against Simon Greul Thursday in Stockholm.

"He had the chance to break back in the second set," Blake told reporters. "Then there's a whole new match; then it could have become dangerous."

The 71-minute win set the 26-year-old Blake up with a showdown against the sixth-seeded Belgian Olivier Rochus in the last eight tomorrow.

Third-seeded Tomas Berdych continued his solid form defeating Swede Andreas Vinciguerra in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.

The No. 5 seed Jarkko Nieminen advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Frenchman Marc Gicquel. The Finn will now face Feliciano Lopez, a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victor over Spanish countryman and No. 4 seed David Ferrer.
