Jim Courier leads a list of eight champions competing at the $180,000
Legends Rock Dubai, held November 22-24 at the Dubai Tennis Stadium at
The Aviation Club in Dubai, U.A.E. The Legends Rock Dubai is the
seventh and final event on the 2007 Outback Champions Series, a
collection of tennis events around the world featuring the greatest
names in tennis over the age of 30.
Also headlining the event are 1991 Wimbledon champion Michael Stich of
Germany, who is making his Outback Champions Series debut, and 1995
French Open champion Thomas Muster of Austria, playing in his first
Outback Champions Series event since 2005. Rounding out the field are
1993 US Open finalist and 1997 Wimbledon finalist Cedric Pioline of
France, 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash of Australia, 1986 French
Open finalist Mikael Pernfors of Sweden, former world No. 1 doubles
player Paul Haarhuis of the Netherlands and 1989 French Open doubles
finalist Mansour Bahrami of Iran.
The Legends Rock Dubai is the second international event on the
U.S.-based Outback Champions Series, joining the Athens Champions Cup
held in Athens, Greece last May. The event will be a traditional
single-elimination tournament rather than the traditional round-robin
format featured in other Outback Champions Series events. The players
will compete for $180,000 in total prize money, including a $50,000
first prize paycheck for the champion. Stanford Champions Rankings
points will also be at stake with 650 points going to the winner, 350
points for second place, 275 for third place, 200 for fourth place and
100 for quarterfinal losers.
