Defending champions Novak Djokovic and Flavia Pennetta will be on hand at the unveiling of the US Open draw 11:30am on Friday on site. There’s no official public confirmation on this from the event, but media have been reporting it via twitter.

Djokovic comes into the US Open after a tough loss in the Rio Olympics to Juan Martin del Potro, and some injury concerns over a left wrist.

Pennetta of course retired at the end of last year.

Van Persie Says:

Looking forward to the US Open! Hope, such a gorgeous lady like Flavia will bring Nole some luck :). Wish him a good draw.

Giles Says:

Geez! How much more luck does joker need, eh? He has already won 2 slams and how many Masters?
It’s time some of the others have a share in the spoils!!

AndyMira Says:

I don’t care who’s attend the draw..please God,don’t let DelPo and The Fog land in Rafa and Andy’s quarter!

Margot Says:

Seconded AM and, if the tennis gods are listening, please don’t put Andy on Armstrong if he’s facing those serving thunderbolts! Andy does not like Armstrong AM, dunno how Rafa feels about it.
@Kath
The courts at Cincy were different from Rio and Andy’s timing was off all week. Usually he’s so fast on his feet he can compensate for this, but he just ran out of gas. Plus he had a cold. Did amazingly well really.

AndyMira Says:

M…truth to be told,i’m not worry much about Andy and those serving bolts..he always be able to handle them brilliantly..why,he’s the 2nd best returner of all time M..even the scary serve of Dr.Ivo can’t make Andy cower..although i believe you regarding Armstrong..

Bout Rafa,i’m pretty sure he don’t like Arthur Ashe now since ‘he’s’ been forced to wear a ‘hat’..and we know what the outcome is when rafa has to play under the roof!

J-Kath Says:

Margot: Perhaps, but he certainly wasn’t off against Raonic.

Yes, Andy ran out of gas at Cinci but not surprised given Andy’s usual emotional involvement in team events – and his marathon man determination at the Olympics which he won by sheer grit and bloody-mindedness and could not bring that emotional level (or play as well) at Cinci. Cilic earned the win – he wanted it more.

I am pretty sanguine that if Cilic and he meet at US Andy will win. Yes, Del Potro is a toughie as well, but not likely to up-end him at US.

If Noel is injury free, he is the real competition.
