Richard Williams, the father of American tennis-carrying sisters Venus and Serena Williams, has announced he will be married following the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami — to a woman the approximate age of his daughters.

The 67-year-old Williams plans to marry 30-year-old Lakeisha Graham in early April. Williams have been divorced from his former wife and the mother of Venus and Serena, Oracene, for approximately seven years.

A Page2Live website photographer ran into Williams and Graham in the parking lot of a store in West Palm, Fla., where Williams reportedly said “Here, get the first pictures of me and my new wife.”

A reporter from the website later called Williams, who hung up on him when he asked “if the sisters approved of his marrying a woman 37 years younger.”

Venus Williams will turn 29 years old in June.

Three years before the divorce from his former wife, Oracene appeared at West Palm Beach’s Columbia Hospital with three broken ribs that hospital staff suspected was the result of domestic violence, but a police investigation resulted in no charges.

Venus and Serena will emerge at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami after skipping this week’s Indian Wells event, a tournament they have missed since 2001 when their father Richard accused fans at the event of racist taunts. Neither Serena nor Venus reportedly heard such taunts, but both say they support their father’s accusation.

smile Says:

Well, there’s no fool like an old fool. Ask Paul McCartney and countless others.

Colin Says:

smile, speaking as an old fart myself, I’m always puzzled at this response. This is a young woman who might be said to be throwing herself away on an old man. Surely she’s the fool, if anyone is.

smile Says:

Yeah but like Heather Mills, she stands to inherit some of Papa Coach’s wealth. All she needs is a baby, pronto. There may already be a bun in the oven. lol

Von Says:

Sorry to differ, she’s not the fool. He’s got mucho bucks and the odds are she’ll outlive him, get the big bucks to boot when he dies, unless he has a pre-nup then she’ll marry a man her age. And, the two shall live happily ever after. In the meantime, she’s travelling all around the world with her grandfather. I thought she was one of his nieces, when I’ve seen them together, but never thought she was his “travelling companion”. In their case all she needs is a set of air plugs and some aspirin. Got a headache anyone? She’ll need a diversion from his ego, that’s for sure.

Shan Says:

Uh oh…better not talk about to the Williams family media!!!! You know someone will eventually pull out the race card!!!!

Yes and it gets really old. I might have to pull out my sexism card if they do that.

Anyone who can put up with Richard deserves to inherit any riches he might have – God help her. I have to disagree with you here Von – I think she is a fool because no amount of money would be worth that to me.

Ryan Says:

Ryan:

C’mon, say it ain’t so. I won’t try to change your mind, but I think you know by now how much I like exchanging posts with you. Anyway, do as you see fit. That was very nice of you to assure TwoCents that he didn’t offend you and he’s not the reason you decided to stop posting. Take care of yourself, bro, and I hope you have a change of heart. Pax.

Von:

I understand your disappointment at my leaving this blog. After all, I\’m the only one who got along well with you. And why wouldn\’t we get along well? After all, both of us supported a sissy and a donkey. We both hated a Latin champion who we hoped would never become world no. 1 or win grand slams outside of clay.

But life is so cruel. Here he is, in front of our own eyes, becoming the greatest sportsman of all time. It\’s so painful to watch all this. I think I\’m going to stop watching tennis forever. I hope you\’ll do the same.
Good Bye.

Vvx Says:

Congratulations to Richard Williams and Lakeisha Graham on your impending marriage. I wish you a successful union and many happy years together.

Twocents Says:

Ryan,

Thanks a lot for letting me off the hook. I appreciate it greatly.

Best Wishes.

jane Says:

Ryan – take it easy and don’t hesitate to come back any ole time you have a hankering to talk tennis! Cheers.

misspalmi109 Says:

i agree Vvx. some people (i.e. tenisbebe, shan and von) are so miserable and lonely they can’t be happy for others. if there ever was a better example of misery loves company look no further than that trio.

Lol, personal barbs aside, I’m pretty confident I read the article and summarized it well.

Why don’t you use his name? You hate him because he’s Latin!?

Ryan said: “I think I\’m going to stop watching tennis forever. I hope you\’ll do the same”

Yeah give us a rest from your wisdom. Thanks!

Von Says:

There’s the scroll button, USE IT! However, you won’t because you love reading what’s written and your curiosity is unconrollable. How else can you unleash all the demons raging in your head? The answer is simple, beating up on anyone who’s an easy target. GET A LIFE, you need one. Glad to see you’ve resurrected at least two aliases today. Have fun.

KissMyGrits Says:

“Race baiting is an act of using racially derisive language, actions or other forms of communication, to anger, intimidate or incite a person or groups of people, or to make those persons behave in ways that are inimical to their personal or group interests.”

Shan, you must be so proud- are all your family member race baiters.

Colin Says:

Von, if I were to take your stance on this question, I’d expect to be called cynical, sexist, and be accused of disrespecting women. Is it really perfectly acceptable for a woman to marry an old man just in order to inherit his money. After all, if Williams lives to be 87, as he well might, she’ll 57 when she gets her money, with the best years of her life gone.
Furthermore, even if she is marrying him for the money, if (may be a big if) she stays loyal to him while he’s alive, might he not, on his deathbed, think he’d made a good investment? Would he then be a fool?

Von Says:

Colin: I can only answer your question by giving you an example of what I’ve seen and a recent ‘woe is me tale’ told to me by a guy recently who is a cable technician, and related his story while fixing a cable problem at my home. He, married a woman who was 20 at the time of their marriage, she’s now 25 and he’s 50. He paid for her college education and now that she has graduated she’s calling him an idiot, a boring old #*^x, et al. She goes out with her friends and leaves him alone in the evenings without dinner. Due to his unhappiness, he asked for my opinion, and all I could tell him was “sorry to hear”; I did tell him he should nip the name calling and disrespect in the bud though. In that guy’s case, would you say he’s happy and he made the best decision for himself, or even for her? They are both miserable. Also, wouldn’t you say it was a marriage of convenience for her and now that she has an education and is independent, she appears to be disinterested in the marriage? Based on the facts as presented to me, I’d say the cable guy was the fool and not the wife, or do you disagree? BTW, he has a daughter the same age as the woman, similar to Richard.

I don’t know why women marry men who are older than they are, or for their money and vice versa since I’ve worked before and throughout my marriage and have never had to depend on a man for security or money, contrary to what ‘Federer Rules’ thinks, since he has referred to me as a ‘gold-digger’ and ‘the scum of society’ because of my opinion. I personally wouldn’t marry a man younger than myself, or one who is more than 5 years older than I am, nor for his money, because I’m not needy. And, with respect to Richard Williams all I can say, only time will tell, whether he made the right decision or not.

lorossta Says:

good gosh! he’s twice her age. I heard a good joke. I don’t know how many times 30 goes into 67, but 67 goes into 30 every chance he gets!
