256 Comments for Nadal, Djokovic Leads Seeds Today at Indian Wells

Kimmi Says:

Contador, here is what I hear and saw about Simon.

simon seem to be moving OK..the commentator said Dabul looks sharp and consistent. hmmm!

Dabul hits a winner..simon swears..in french (hope its not a bad word :))

Slowly but surely the commentator says ..dabul looks to be having this match in his terms!

contador Says:

hahahaaaa. not laughing at anything in particular…*.nervous laugh* Kimmi.

EG v davy on after Tori takes care of business.

glad gilles is not limping. but i also had to go refresh my memory on da bull..he must be a scrappy fighter-he’s like 5’7″?

must try again to get a stream. would love to see how ancic is playing

delgado is OLD. tobasco should finish him off in 2.

i love these early rounds, Kimmi.

Kimmi Says:

Simon seem to have lost a lot of confidence. I read that his knee(s) has not recovered properly. Apparently they told him to play..if/when he feels pain he should stop. Not good at all.

Brian Dabul will have his first big win of his career here I reckon.

Kimmi Says:

Love this early rounds too conty..can I call you conty..its easier on the keyboard :)

Look for stream if you can..great matches today.

Yanina wins her match in straight..I like her too.

talk about henin loss yesterday .. still sad. Was looking forward to watch her here :(

contador Says:

yeah, dabul beating gilees. awful.

i was hurting for simon last fall watching a match against ljub..i think it was paris? ljub should have won. gilles could barely get to a ball but somehow he did with the crowd behind him.

totalled his knee; it was hailed as a gutsy performance but i was begging him to STOP! he never listens to me : ) i guess it’s both knees now? uh boy.

Fernando is. almost.

contador Says:

cont…..whatever you want, Kimmi. contessa, is only duro’s way of flattering me, i know. : ) ajde nole!

i just love having a chat about these matches! thanks

Kimmi Says:

Simon held is own here. Now Dabul to serve for his biggest victory..can he do it..still time to choke ofcourse

Kimmi Says:

BIG SMILE for dabul, he did it.

what went wrong with Simon? the commentator said “everything”. Too many erros, did not serve well etc back to the drawing board!

Ancic next on this court.

contador Says:

okay…..here i go…Kimmi.

azarenka is through.

verdasco….that was easy.

poor gilles. i hope he skips miami and everything thereafter until he is really recovered. i want the simon of 2008!

Kimmi Says:

OK..cont is better! haha

Kimmi Says:

my guy verdasco finished too..great win.

Kimmi Says:

Gulbis v davydenko is coming next…yepeee!!

contador Says:

no skiing this weekend, Kimmi. it’s a heat wave in rockies. 40F, rain, warm wind, slush….as if the weather here is big news. woot!

cycling is on FSN when they could be showing tennis. yeah…”contador” likes cycling but not during indian wells.

congrats to you and fernando, Kimmi. great teamwork, there. take a bow!

i am actually going next door where i know there’s would be an online stream. but i will be laughed out of my neighborhood for asking to watch tennis!!

no guts, no glory. i’ll be back sooooon!

Kimmi Says:

“no guts, no glory. i’ll be back sooooon”

Ok cont i will be here!

contador Says:

okay, Kimmi. are you watching tennis channel or did you buy the bnp package? ESPN 360? i’m on a different computer.

i tried the usual free sites and no luck. thanks

Kimmi Says:

I bought tennistv.com but you should be able to get free stream. Let me look for it here!!

Kimmi Says:

http://atdhe.net/

Gulbis v davy and ancic matches are here cont.

Try that.

Kimmi Says:

Does that “atdhe” stream working for you cont?

Kimmi Says:

Gulbis broken on a very makable ball..he went for tooooooooo muuuuuuuch! ouch!!

Davy already calls the trainer..what is it, a thigh, or is it back. Not good!!

contador Says:

was laughed at, mocked, insulted….but i tried.

can’t get a bnp paribas stream on this laptop.

but i know have the sound! yay!

well, it’s typical Gulbis, as the commentators said. sounding like eeyore, here.

c’mon ernie!

contador Says:

meant i now have sound, not that i like what i hear.

Kimmi Says:

Gulbis did one bad game and it cost him. davy knows when to capitalize (or gulbid just gave it away) coz gulbis had chances too in the beginning but could not capitalize.

commentator said gulbis needs improvement on “return of serve” and forehand wing needs improvement too.

Kimmi Says:

:( too bad you can’t watch cont. Hope your guy come together here…it is a difficult match for him.

contador Says:

i sure he’s nervous Kimmi.

he was reading and returning karlovics serve, no prob.

you think i might have watched more ernie than the commentators? lol…

c’mon Gulbis! make it!

nope. he had a chance to get it to deuce. well, another fave went out yesterday….gasquet.

ancic lost his first set too. : (

madmax Says:

can i join in the conversation kimmi and conty?! Been working this weekend, but now I am FREE! as a bird!

Conty havent seen you here in a while! Where have you been???????? hope all is good with you.

Kimmi, great to see you too,

davy just won first set!

I’ve still got to say, cannot believe henin went out yesterday – i love that woman.

contador Says:

benny, the federer killer. boo booo. i used to like benny. he-he-

a girlfriend calls to discuss serious life, “can i call you back, my friend? uh, i am listening to a gulbis/davydenko match.”

“say what?” says she.

think ancic or gulbis has a chance, Kimmi?

i’ll see if i can get the pic for the ancic match. sometimes the reason i don’t have a stream is simply due to traffic.

contador Says:

hey madmax. yeah i always read you but it’s the time difference. has to be like 11 pm in the UK, right?

oh yes! ancic is up a break in the 2nd set!

ernie only hanging on. i doubt he pulls off the upset. hope seems futile at the moment.

Kimmi Says:

hello madmax ..welocome. Its now or never for both Gulbis and Ancic I say. Gulbis seem not getting in davydenko service games…time is running out.

Kimmi Says:

deja vu all over again..poor service game for gulbis

contador Says:

Mario Holds.

time to try SEEing that match.

i’ll have tennis on FSN monday, Kimmi.

i just like the early rounds

even if EG is gone. so over, that match.

Kimmi Says:

davydenko breaks and I am afraid Gulbis is out cont. i can’t see him coming back :(

Kimmi Says:

on the other match Mario is waking up..goooooo Ancic!

contador Says:

nope no glory for me or EG today. : )

i at least had the guts to listen to this much…..arrrrrgh

on a happier note. have switched to the mario match.

i love the ancic supporters….get the ancic match on madmax and Kimmi!

Kimmi Says:

benneteau decideds to let go this set it seems..what do you call him “the federer killer” hahah

skeezerweezer Says:

Gulbis doesn’t look good today, or Davy does. See how far back Davy is waiting for his serve? Mmmmmm

Kimmi Says:

Gulbis has been broken ..again..ouch! Cont, he is not playing very well today…””the commentator said Gulbis has fallen away in the 2nd set, dissapointing isn’t it?”” I agree…Oh well!

Kimmi Says:

hehehe gulbis breaks wooot..is it a comeback!

skeezerweezer Says:

Davy serving 40-15, 5-2, first serve…boom. Davy think s it is an ace….starts walking to the net….but no..officials say OUT. Second serve, Gulbis ropes a BH winner down the line off the second. Two more points….Bab boom, broken. Gulbis breaks, now serving 3-5. Mmmmmmmm…Contador?

contador Says:

yeah, i accept davy’s win happily , *almost*

at least EG fought off a couple kolya match points, postponing the inevitable, eh ernie?

skeezerweezer Says:

At least he is making Davy serve it out…5-4 Davy

contador Says:

not going to even switch back to that EG deal. *sniff, sniff- snub*

i am already in miami, ERNIE! it’s okay.

madmax Says:

bam bam boo!!!!! Kimmi and contador! the new double act!!!! I love you guys! You make me laugh!!!!!

contador Says:

Davy has that improved serve…..a lethal mix. unless, dare i think it, he chokes? nah.

contador Says:

it’s serious madmax. i need alka seltzer.

match point, dazzlingdavydenko….my new nick, Kimmi. start typing it out. teeheee

Kimmi Says:

mrs. davy happy, very happy.

davydenko one of the contendor for the title they say..hmmmm! Another master series for davy..go for it man!!

madmax Says:

contador, i dont know what it is about Gulbis. But I dont like him. cocky “boy”. i dont know. his game irritates me. looks like he “could” be a great player. but that smash for example, what on earth was he thinking, smashed it into the net, should have been an easy overhead for him. and then i suppose, at least, he laughed at himself – but what a waste of a shot!

how long have you been watching him? because I dont really know that much about him – but what little I have seen already, he frustrates me!!!!!

jane Says:

contador, well, it wasn’t an easy early round match for Ernests, so we must forgive him that. He tried to come back too, so we must commend him that. Better luck to him next time. : )

madmax Says:

he attacks all the time – why? surely if he was more patient, he could consciously craft his game?

Kimmi Says:

how did benneteau come back from 0-5 when I last followed this match.. to 5-5..Ancic not looking good again..Oh well, its tough to play your best game when you just come back after a looong layoff..I say Good for him. Goooo Ancic. make hin sweat!

contador Says:

ah, madmax. i can’t make you an EG convert from across the pond, oh but if you were here watching with me, different story. *smiley face* yep, he frustrates. part of his charm, madmax. i could link you to some interviews. he really is funny, makes fun of himself, kinda reminds me of marat’s wit.

good for mrs. davy! she and mirka, my fav’s of the wives.

contador Says:

ancic chokes. not my day, yet, you guys.

MARIO, MARIO, C’MON ANCIC!

he can be great at his attacking style tennis, madmax. speaking of EG. he’s speedy too. someone here had a youtube link to ernie v federer in doha. did you see that? or his win over karlovic? when he is focused he can read a serve as well as anyone, an absolute natural at returning. he was honestly injured last year but….also that motivation question: “how to light a fire under a rich kid?”

DO IT FOR LATVIA, I SAY. c’mon Ernests!

now, can mario win this tiebreak? let’s go mario!

madmax Says:

i think ancic is pretty gorgeous conty. great to see him back – new haircut, thinner, more languid play. hmmmmmm. mighty fine!

Kimmi Says:

OK 2 set points..OK gone..one set point cmoon ancic

madmax Says:

meant to say “dreamy” but in a good way. Languid wrong word! working too hard this weekend!

okay so its 6:5 ancic, is he gonna do it?????

Kimmi Says:

EVENTUALLY..hah he made that set sooo difficult for himself. We have the decider.

contador Says:

you are up late, madmax. are you doing an all-nighter? i am waiting for the nole v fish match….i think it’s the last one though.

yes, nice to have ancic and nalby back on tour.

Yay!! a decider, it will be. GO MARIO!

madmax Says:

ancic takes the second set. seemed to question benneateu’s serve, but he won the next point and set point, so didnt really matter.

go ancic! he had mono too, right? and an injury? havent seen him play in ages.

He is a very talented player. I always used to get him mixed up with cilic – too many “cic’s!”

Kimmi Says:

Now, in the other news..Top seed Kutznetsova about to lose to Carla suares Navarro

And she did it…Carla gets her first victory over Kutzy. Wow!!

Kimmi Says:

My buddy Murray pairing with Hutchins plays Roddick and Blake in doubles. C’mooooon Murray, I will support you on anything :)

Kimmi Says:

hahah its funny. Tennistv are showing the doubles match..unbelivable!!

madmax Says:

contador,

yes. an all nighter of sorts. i have a friend who lives in the states – (as much a tennis junkie as me!), so wanted to send her a few emails – she will overdose on them I think. but it had to be done!!!!

In all seriousness, a heavy workload this weekend – so have watched some great matches today and now going for some zeeeeeeeeeeee.

Enjoy the rest of the night with Kimmi & Co.

see you all tomorrow.

Huh! come back!
Duro! where are you?

madmax Says:

i mean we were msn messenger “ing”. – hence the late night! (if you know what I mean).

contador Says:

of course, Kimmi! it’s USA v GBR.

how are the andy’s looking?

i’ve got a picture on the ancic match, finally sound, the works! woot! YAY. up two breaks mario!

madmax. ancic has had a bad case of mono. every time he seemed over it, he was sick again. but managed to finish law school. his game looks great on grass, remember him playing fed at wimbles 2008?

kuzy lost. uh boy

Kimmi Says:

contador.. the andy’s are on serve, going to tiebreak maybe. There is soooo many to chose, Ancic broken again..deja vu? Right now I am watching Clijsters. :)

Kimmi Says:

aaarg..no tiebreak, Murray and co is broken. First set Roddick and blake :(

contador Says:

thanks, Kimmi.

i am in tennis pig heaven now! hahahahahaaa
remembering how much i like watching ancic. 6’5″ but so much more agile than say, berdych.

mario seems…vulnerable, even when winning. must be hot in indian wells. sounds a little windy, nothing like last year.

match point ancic!

Kimmi Says:

Super Mario wins, yeah baby! Next Rafa!

Kimmi Says:

I am glad your stream is working now Contador, though you missed your sweetheart Guilbis, at least you can watch another croat er Cilic..he is coming next!

Kimmi Says:

hehehe WTA and on-court coaching! never warm up to it.

contador Says:

right, Kimmi.

tough draw for mario, eh? benny over but next he has to play NADAL.

cilic match up next. vs GGL

cljisters is rolling. so is doubles team USA. sorry GBR.

SAR has some great tickets. rafa match, nolee match, didn’t she say ivanovic too?

Kimmi Says:

hah Murray and co not doing good. Will lose this match quickly..at least he got to practice the courts.

Kimmi Says:

Nadal shakira song Gypsy singing in the background hehehe

contador Says:

well, i am not calling EG my sweetheart ever again. at least until he wins, umm, another atp 250, okay. bad ernie. c’mon dude.

i do really wish i could have watched. i love watching davy fly around a tennis court.

contador Says:

really? Gypsy song on? lolzzz

put it out of your mind, rafa!

Kimmi Says:

Yeah, they put the song on the center court during clijster match change over….I agree Nadal should put it out of his mind. LOL Its back to business now!

contador Says:

we lost madmax. past 1 a.m. in the UK. any Brits still up watching doubles? teehee not being mean here, just joking. i have no clue who R. Hutchins is. hey there is still time for roddick and blake to lose.

and muzza is still top of my pick list to win IW, right under Djoko.

cilic and GGL match on.

ljubicic won, ancic won….c’mon marin!

i always have to go look up GGL. not that i haven’t seen him, i just forget him. if he knocks out cilic, i won’t forget GGL.

Kimmi Says:

aha the GBR team came back, last I check they were 0-3..now 4-4 in the 2nd set. Cmooon GBR!!

Kimmi Says:

“and muzza is still top of my pick list to win IW, right under Djoko”

C’mooon Muzza, if not you then Federer..any of those two will make me haaaaaappppy!! IW trophy is waiting!

contador Says:

great drop shot from GGL! he’s going to make marin work, i think.

yes, your UK/Canadian allegience is showing, i see …hahaha

looks good for the GBR team at the moment.

contador Says:

cljisters is through easily.

i don’t know who to watch now. Kimmi

nadal? cilic? who are you on?

Kimmi Says:

Clijsters wins..go all the way baby!!

Gypsy Rafa next..Tricky conditions commentaor said..a little windy today!! ahha windy! again. Murray does not like windy. Lets hope he is learn to play on it.

Kimmi Says:

Both, I want to see how Rafa is doing..should everybody be really scared! You know what Rafa can do!!

Love Cilic! will watch him too.

contador Says:

i always cheer for sam stosur…unless playing henin but we wont see that one.

Kimmi. tie breaker GBR/USA

i pick muzza to win but he’s down the list, my long list of favorites.

i know i’m a shameful tennis fan to madmax and duro. i can say that cuz i know they are both likely sleeping. *grins*

oh sorry, match points for USA team.

Kimmi Says:

GBR team is losing. 3 match points for USA oh well..at least we got match time..I mean Murray!

is there time to choke for team USA?

Kimmi Says:

Team USA wins.

skeezerweezer Says:

USA vs da Brits, nice match….

Von Says:

Hey skeez:

Great win for team USA in doubles. My boy’s looking good!!!

contador Says:

Kimmi, i don’t think roger liked the wind last year but it was near gale force gusts, remember?

I have been down there on business this time of year. It can really blow, baby!

wind doesn’t bother rafa, i recall. but shakira might : )

nice and cool for nolee tonight.

Kimmi Says:

“wind doesn’t bother rafa, i recall. but shakira might : )” ahahahahahahaa

contador Says:

yust yoking, kimmi but think about it….hahahhahaaaa

are they still blasting “gypsy?”

Kimmi Says:

OK..the feed is moving to Nadal match! hehehe have you seen Rafa shorts???

..this is like jungel style!!

contador Says:

no, haven’t gone to the feed but i sure am now!

i have been trying to decide if cilic is playing like he could win this tourny. not yet. maybe the wind is in his willows….sorry….hahaha

Kimmi Says:

Excuse me!! the commentator just said rafa made a comment about his match vs murray in AO that he was in full control before he retired..what!!! he was 2 sets to love down!! :)

skeezerweezer Says:

Von,

Hi There :) Yes, Andy/Blake make a good doubles team. Good to see your man playin doubs, with that serve? C’mon! LOL

Von Says:

Skeez: I’d like to see them both play more doubles. With Blake’s go for broke swings in doubles, it pays off as he doesn’t have to pay attention to the lines when and hitting out with his FH = nuclear explosion. LOL.

I think Fish/Roddick make a very good team also — they won the title last year. Fish has a beautiful angled two-handed BH and he can angle some sweet volleys when playing close up to the net. For me, I’d like for Roddick and Fish to both team up playing doubles after they retire from singles competition — they’d make a terrific doubles team. Here’s hoping for the good ol USA to keep on shinin’ in tennis …

Kimmi Says:

Nadal water bottles are blowing over :) It is getting gusty out there..

contador Says:

okay, Kimmi

that took some time. had to go to channelsurfing.net but

i have the nadal match on. not that i think this is going to be any kind of a great match-up, but mainly to see what you were talking about, about the shorts?

I say bring back the checked ones and lime shirt. what are those? brown and tan diamonds with a mis-matched shirt? okay. as long as he can still play his tennis- and appears he’s doing that. the german is on the board.

4-1 for bad pants.

Kimmi Says:

CILIC..aaaaarg! contador, he was about to serve for the set then got broken..now he is playing very poor tibreak 5 setpoints for Garcia-Lopez..Not looking good!

skeezerweezer Says:

Kimmi Says:

“Excuse me!! the commentator just said rafa made a comment about his match vs murray in AO that he was in full control before he retired..what!!! he was 2 sets to love down!! :)”

You serious? That means felt in was, like winning? WTF? lol

contador Says:

yes, i just nooticed cilic lost the first set! uhhhhhg.

cilic no like wind.

gotta get back to the other feed. seen enough on this match. i thought gypsy would be playing. the french keep the music going don’t they?

Kimmi Says:

Exactly my point Skeezer! WTF? lol

contador Says:

i think nadal dresses to throw off his opponents….yoking, yust a yoke.

thinking of soda…

Kimmi Says:

OK, lets watch Cilic, no contest in nadal match.

Skeezer, do you like Rafa’s shorts?

contador Says:

nadal playing mind games with muzza, like daddy fed?

Kimmi Says:

Cilic is broken second set…oh boy! Now, you will really remember Garcia-Lopez contador..hmm!

contador Says:

i’m having a hard time switching channels- mesmerized by the brown diamonds. hypnotic. he sure can pull off ‘grunge’

skeezerweezer Says:

RE: Rafa’s shorts

Ya know, the shorts gotta go. However, as a “guy tennis player” I was glad to see the “pirate” shorts go. At least the cut of the shorts is getting better. You ever tried to play in those? No wonder the poor guy was “adjusting” all the time. I give Rafa kudos for that. A step up. You ladies probably are bummed that he changed to a “no show guns” T shirt though……ha!

contador Says:

no skeezerweezer. not a fan of pirate shorts or sleevelesss.

i am all done with cilic, Kimmi. over him like EG.

nadal is moving well. checking out his knees and serve.

contador Says:

the german breaks back. can he hold serve and make a match out of this?

Kimmi Says:

Cilic just fell apart..what is going on!

So maybe I should go back and watch Rafa..german is making a match out of this? Last time I checked it was 5-1 rafa…..

Kimmi Says:

Rafa take first set 6-4 phew!!

contador Says:

oops, i guess rainy was two breaks down. rafa is running rainy al over.

rafa, not playing like last year, when he played like he was not giving up one point. but he looks good, first class, even in bad pants.

i can’t stop watching rafa

Kimmi Says:

The only guy who would have made this qtr interesting, is losing badly…Cilic, what is going on..it does not make sense. oh well..as they say, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Kimmi Says:

Cilic lost contador in straight set and a begal ..you were right, now we will remember Guillermo Garcia-Lopez

contador Says:

yeah, i was hoping for more from cilic. he is just having an off day, Kimmi. he and EG off to maimi…forget IW.

liking the nadal match. no doubt rafa will win but at least rainy is playing more aggressive, stepping in, taking chances and not giving up his serve…yet.

jane Says:

Guys: Sean wrote an entire thread about Cilic being the potential champion of this event; thus, we should have seen this first round loss coming, yes? : D Just kiddin Sean, but really!

Ben: you said before that G-Lo is “not much of a tennis player”. I disagreed with you then, and I would hope you’ll reconsider that comment since he just bageled Cilic. I think he’s pretty decent, a top 50 player anyhow, so can’t be that bad.

Kimmi Says:

jane: Cilic just fell apart..one UE after another. G-Lo is OK but Cilic should have beaten him. He is just inconsistent at the moment..I don’t think we should have too much expectation from him YET!

contador Says:

but i agree with Kimmi. about that cilic quarter, Jane. : (

that quarter looks weak. good news for djoko though.

big point here. rainy has to hold his serve or its over

he did it (rainy) but…sorta looks like practice session for rafa.

it’s bad news for a guy when sean makes them his pick

Kimmi Says:

And rafa breaks..ready to finish this “practice session”

steve Says:

What happened to Cilic today happens to him all the time: he checks out mentally for a set or two.

But the difference is in best-of-five he could have lost the second set and still have a chance of coming back to win. In best-of-three, you lose two sets and that’s all she wrote.

He really does need to work on this problem.

jane Says:

Kimmi, I am not saying G-Lo is great but at top 50 he’s got a shot at higher ranked guys when they’re having off days; heck top 100 guys have those shots. You just never know. I am not surprised Cilic lost as he played a lot of tennis. He was bound to have a let down sooner or later.

jane Says:

Nice to see Rafa back at it. Not loving those shorts, though, and it’s a little early to judge his form, but he looks fit and well.

contador Says:

it’s true about our faves having a bad day. can’t really relax too much, even though nolee’s entire path to the semi’s looks pretty sweet.

it’s early round excitement!

rafa did well, i thought, not killer like last year. his quarter ‘looks’ the toughest to me. but who knows.

i’m already worrying about hanescu v federer…

Kimmi Says:

“i’m already worrying about hanescu v federer…’

hahah…did you watch Hit for Haiti yesterday, a lot of forehands to the net..UE!! he kept telling himself something like “lets get back to it or concentrate”..can’t remember exact words.

Yap, bad days normally happens in the first rounds!

steve Says:

Kuznetsova is the Safin of the women’s game, first-class talent but a total headcase, which I find endearing.

But I also really like Suarez Navarro, and this was a huge win for her. I hope she can win a title this year and break into the top 20.

Kimmi Says:

Contador, I also think Rafa Qtr is tough..Isner or Querrey and then davydenko (if he gets there). That is tough..then he plays the djoker in the semi. If he wins this tourney he will really deserve it.

Andrew Miller Says:

I had to send this clip of Federer’s forehands. Federer crushes the tennis ball.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPOaOiHbyTc

And Nadal crushing some.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB6EY7FxgUg

contador Says:

Kimmi-

no likey the time slot for fed tomorrow, at all. it gets windy late afternoon / evening. ( i don’t really know) but…hey. wind, hanescu, bad light, whatever. he better win. i didn’t like that 1st round match with andreev at all.

yep, i finally pieced together the hit 4 haiti vids and saw enough of it to think fed looked thin or maybe sleek, lets say. he played like crap. it was that was a hit and giggle, without to many giggles for me as i watched him biff his shots. he’s rusty, no doubt. i really don’t expect him to win IW. but i hope he can win tomorrow!

i think i better watch Andrew Miller’s links!

rafa has a tough draw, indeed. Isner, queery, davy. fed’s is tough too. baggy has been hot, assuming he gets by the tall romanian. i think hansecu is romanian?

i even fear roddick for some reason too. i’m getting a strong revenge vibe… roddick is done with losing to federer for forever. “hey,” thinks he, “if davy can beat him, my time has come.”

but federer does have that target on his back and he knows it all too well.

suarz-navarro is a firecracker, the times i have seen her play. the men’s winners are hard to pick at the moment. but the women’s tennis winner’s are completely impossible. i give up there.

sticking with djokovic to win the title. murray is overdue for a win, so is rafa. but….ajde nolee!!

Kimmi Says:

“hey. wind, hanescu, bad light, whatever. he better win.” hahahah nice!!

“i didn’t like that 1st round match with andreev at all.”

Andreev is a different animal. FH spin from Andreev to federer BH is like a poor man’s nadal. If Andreev was playing him tomorrow then i would worry but hanescu..i have a little hope!

Roddick is always dangerous for federer. alot of their best of three matches have been very close, like one or two points..yes..could go either way.

As I said before, I am rooting for federer or Murray here, hope i will not be too disappointed.

Kimmi Says:

Isner wins..yeeepeee!!

Andrew Miller Says:

Kimmi, Isner has my respect! Anyone who beats Roddick in 5 sets at the US Open, takes Djokovic to 5 sets on clay in Djokovic’ home country, and then shows some nerve in closing out a first round match at IW as if it’s a final, it’s impressive. I like that Isner treats each match with respect. That’s a page out of Roddick’s book and it seems like a page out of Federer’s also.

Andrew Miller Says:

Contador, what did you think? I am pretty amazed. Their shots are amazing to me.

Andrew Miller Says:

Chardy is way better than I thought he was. This looks tough for Querrey.

Kimmi Says:

Andrew, true about isner. The commentators were talking about how much he has improved his all court game. Serve & volley, big forehand and ofcourse the serve. he is a very difficult opponent to anyone..

Sometimes if his matches are dominated by only serve i get bored watching him but todays match was mixed with some great volleys and rallies. I enjoyed it.

contador Says:

ana ivnanovic- what a beauty! must be tough concentrating on tennis when one is that beautiful and photogenic. sexy steps has the same problem. he-hee

she’s ahead… i mean no, she’s not. it’s the other way around. oh ana,

isner and queery. i knew isner would win. in fact i wasn’t worrying about either of them winning tonight, not that i don’t like the dashing jeremy chardy. sam could have an off night. i have no stream again-my laptop is ridiculously limiting for a tennis junkie.

pk will be next up for nole after he demolishes fish, right?

Kimmi Says:

ana ivanovic *sigh*. She used to be world number 1. How can all that change in like… 2 years? Who is sevastova..never heard of her and ivanovic is a set (6-2) and a break down at the mo.

steve Says:

I am fascinated by Kuznetsova’s Twitter posts. Some gems:

“f””” all haters andthanx to suporters!”

“only god is our jurge! thia is my tatoo and its true guys,no one can jurge no one so relaxxxxxx”

“i woul love to have more support from ppl, specialy from my country, not critics, all ppl can do critics!me 2!why dont u take a racket and play

its too easy to say nd not to do eh????”

“guys i love music and i m into it!i m god blessed and god bessed to u!”

“gusy u r geate ll who are not haters! before i didnt understand who was haers but now im~!”

“all u are the best best off all!god is the jurge!” (She keeps misspelling “judge” for some reason.)

And for those who were wondering whether this was the product of imbibing a little too much, there’s this:

“guys i dont drink just for info!”

And apparently people didn’t believe this because she’s Russian, so:

“i m russian so what>”

And then there are the parts in Russian, which I can’t read.

Who knew so much could be said in 140 characters or less?

contador Says:

andrew miller-

wow. i think i wouldn’t like to get spanked by either of their forehands. LOL!!

nadal hits the ball harder or else the grunting makes it seem so…

loved it, thanks. rafa and rog. way different styles. it’s simply a matter of preference, but i think roger is…well you know i am a fedfan. i am ready for him to share more titles though, for sure.

Andrew Miller Says:

Querrey is also impressive at the moment, it is all business. Maybe the Davis Cup experience has boosted Isner and Querrey? Querey framed a few shots or hit a few off center but came back with an ace.

He just seems like he’s all business. Maybe he and Isner really feel their time is now?

Andrew Miller Says:

They hit hard!!! I agree Contador, it seemed that Nadal hit a little harder. But, Federer uses his opponents’ pace – so Federer’s speed of shot depends on who he’s playing?

Although: against Del Potro, it seemed as though Del Potro also fed off the speed of shot.

Kimmi Says:

steve: classic! i enjoyed that. She makes me love her even more..but she needs to sort out her head. ;(

stu Says:

phew, zvonareva finally won, now Nole can play!

contador Says:

ahhhhahahhahahaaaaaa great laugh! ty, steve-

more tweets from kuzy!. i love kuzy!

*HEADS UP* i just noticed, ana’s opponent is from gulbis land! gotta look her up, Kimmi! no doubt inspired by EG, himself.

Andrew Miller-

i miss delPo. any links? the ones you posted were awsome-really sharp and clear for youtube.

nobody does forehand like forehando though. he’s playing in chile, i think.

Kimmi Says:

chardy has up the ante in this set a little bit! the match is getting interesting.

steve Says:

kimmi: she’d certainly have more professional success if she got her head together, but isn’t that part of what makes her so lovable?

Sometimes on court, she’ll start kicking around a tennis ball with her feet, just as if it were a soccer ball, doing insanely complicated things with it. Really fun to watch.

Kimmi Says:

there goes ivanovic!

OllyK Says:

Morning, people! *yawn*
No wind anymore? Great!!!! Ajde, Nolee! :)

Kimmi Says:

Hello OllyK. Nole is on now..great! I am on Querrey match, will switch later. Enjoy!

stu Says:

Olly, he looks so scrubbed clean today, I can almost smell his aftershave.

Gosh I’m turning into such a fantard.

Serve not back yet.

contador Says:

yes. savastova, a 19 yr old latvian knocks out ana.

morning Ollyk. perfect conditions for nole tonight. Ajde Nolee!

hey stu.

kimmi-
those samurai sam’s aren’t gonna let sam lose. poor chardy.

Kimmi Says:

Great win for Sam.

aha Savastova..latvian..hmmmm! Congrats young girl!

OllyK Says:

Cilic is out?!!! I’m speechless…What the hell happenned?!
Pheew, Nole took 1st game..slow start, as usual. *sigh* And already 2 double faults in 1st service game…

stu Says:

hey contador, sorry to butt into your conversation! since i have no tennis fans as friends in real life, i need to rely on virtual ones to get me thru a Nole match!

ps – disappointed with chardy. i think he is capable of much more..

Sean Randall Says:

You can officially put Ana Ivanovic on the back of a milk carton. I think she falls out of the Top 50 now.

Stunning loss by Cilic. And good to see Novak still prodding along with 8-minute service games. Sheesh…

OllyK Says:

Breeeak! WTG, NoLe! ;)
stu..about aftershave..LOL! :D

stu Says:

With all this obsessing over Nole having forgotten to serve, we’ve ignored an important development – his razor sharp groundies (missing since the head-gaffe in early 09) are back!

Kimmi Says:

hehehe Fish serving at 29%..it wont cut it!

@ sean LOL

OllyK Says:

Btw, did Fish lose some weight? Sth is strange about his looks..

Kimmi Says:

Djoko is playing that slice BH more and more now..interesting new introduction to his game.

stu Says:

Fish is playing like an amateur IMO

Sean Randall Says:

Fish did lose some weight (guppy, tadpole, minnow?). Though it doesn’t seem to have helped his forehand which appears no better than mine.

OllyK Says:

stu, I like this “my best friend razor” look, too…and did you see that he is cold every time he sits on bench…I think he desperately needs hug right now… :)))))

stu Says:

Mardy, Mardy..no point getting in an extended rally with Nole…

steve Says:

Great rally ended by a truly unbelievable drop shot. Fish doesn’t believe it either, but he’s wrong.

OllyK Says:

2 aces in a row.. Fish is angry.. :D

stu Says:

haha Olly…I’m sure sar would be happy to oblige..

contador Says:

really very glad to see you, stu! i know exactly what you mean.

what’s wrong with fish. c’mon, lets have a match, er, a practice session for nolee, at least.

OllyK Says:

Ok, It’s official..I’m truly madly deeply in love with Noles forehand! ;)
And bye-bye 1st set!!! Ajde, Nole….:)

stu Says:

Something’s fishy bout Mardy. So far it really hasn’t been more than a relaxed practice session for Nole…

OllyK Says:

and, stu, I hope sar is in the 1st row so she can jump in the court in critical moments.. :P

Kimmi Says:

Fish served much better on that first game, that is what he needs to do.

OllyK Says:

I don’t mind Mardy’s horrible performance..it makes my life much easier and nails longer… ;) it doesn’t metter I woke up at 5:30 to watch Nole practicing.. ;)

jane Says:

Well, not the best serving display, with Fish at 38% and Nole at 48% first serves. Fish was making some lousy errors too. Djoko has hit some nice winners, though his play hasn’t been his greatest. Novak will have to be careful as Fish can come back easily. When he got a set here 2 years ago he lost the first 6-2, so you never know. This could be a tighter set. Novak begins with a double – lordy, and now it’s double break point.

stu Says:

Nole won’t let Fish roll over, these days he’s been showing that he wants to earn his fat paycheck..

OllyK Says:

oh, break for Fish…hmmmm…

Kimmi Says:

Fish is turning this set around!

OllyK Says:

double break?!!!! is this for real or I’m having nightmare? :O

stu Says:

this is getting old now, Nole.

stu Says:

Someone tell me Novak Djokovic, ranked #2 in the world, playing his favorite tournament on his favorite surface, is not being bagelled by Mar-nobody Fish!

contador Says:

What’s this? i go get a snack, come back and fish is about to take a set off NOLEE? as in bagel-ed

OllyK Says:

Bagel?! Bye-bye beautiful Sunday morning…

Kimmi Says:

that was a baaaaaad set from Djoko. But Credit to Fish for pressing, he served better in this set too,

jane Says:

I am a huge fan of Novak’s but I am having a tough time lately watching him. I mean the doubles are just atrocious. He’s struggling all the time, and it’s such a roller-coaster. How does he go from 6-1 in the first to eating a bagel in the second? I don’t get it. I mean for sure Mardy raised his game, but Nole went off the rails too. I am going to watch a movie. Good luck to Novak! I hope he can pull out the 3rd set, but if not, maybe he and Martin will have some time to work on that serve before Miami.

stu Says:

Martin has clearly been useless, jane. I can’t think of a single improvement he’s made to Nole’s game in the last year. Okay he comes to the net more, but at the cost of his serve and precise groundies? Is that all they practice, volleying?

stu Says:

OMG help!

contador Says:

Nolee is NOT going to lose this match.

and as i typed the above, fish smashes an easy overhead into net.

Kimmi Says:

I still think Nole will win this..Fish has plenty of time to choke!

OllyK Says:

come on, Nole, now is the time to wake up…3 break points!!! Use one, pls!!

contador Says:

nolee looks…uncomfortable

ajde! break chance

yesssssss. phewwww

OllyK Says:

breeeeak!!! :) Now, tougherpart of the job..keep serve till the end..

stu Says:

of course Nole will win this. the bagel is embarrassing enough. and of course davy/ dasco will eat him alive. if he manages to make it that far without fixing the goddamn serve

OllyK Says:

tougher part* :)

Kimmi Says:

that game was called “choking” by Fish. Its not easy for these guys to beat top players, they get too tight….Fish wake up and make this set a contest!

contador Says:

hold serve, please.

stu Says:

Kimmi, that’s why Nole didn’t celebrate the break. i don’t think he’d like to win on a choke..

OllyK Says:

he should celebrate and THANK GOD for anything given to him for free with this poor display…Ajde, Nole! grrrr…

stu Says:

I have some friends (the same non-tennis-fans) in the stands watching the match, and I just got a text from one of them saying can’t believe you spend all those hours a year watching this loser play

:(

contador Says:

what are your non-tennis fans doing there? do they live in palm springs, stu? weird text.

Kimmi Says:

Well..he knows how to turn it around, the most important thing is a win…winning ugly they say!!

stu Says:

they live close by in orange county, and i suggested that it might be a fun way to spend a saturday night…probably a bad idea…

OllyK Says:

what are they doing there if they don’t like tennis?! ;) Text them that Nole has double break now, maybe they are not watching the same match! :D Oh, my, goodness…

OllyK Says:

oh, sorry, stu, I just read your answer @1:43… :)

OllyK Says:

Pheeeeeew, finally… ;)

contador Says:

oh, well. So Cal friends.

that was not the demolition i expected. but djoko is through.

thanks Kimmi and fellow tennis junkies. i mean it!

stu Says:

grr. i haven’t forgiven kohlscrieber for FO09. i hope Nole hasn’t either..

Kimmi Says:

jane, you can stop watching the movie now!! Your guy fight it out again..so you should give him credit!

Kimmi Says:

thanks cont, fingers crossed for our fed bear tomorrow! and Murray for me ofcourse..Good night

stu Says:

nite all!

Olly, it is a happy Sunday after all!

jane Says:

Kimmi, LOL – I couldn’t stop coming back to the computer to check the scores. But I DID stop watching the match, just followed scores. Too tough to watch. I am happy that Novak fought it out, as you say, but I want to see him win a match with EASE for a change.

Anyhow, cheers to all Novak fans: stu, OllyK, sar, Duro, contador…. At least he’s through the first round. : /

Mardy was as up-and-down as Novak tonight.

OllyK Says:

sweet dreams, stu (dream about Nole having 15 aces against Kohlshreiber and not one double fault :D)! :) Yep, it is! ;)

OllyK Says:

jane, thx! ;) This was horrifying. And Nole is a liar. He told me that he’ll do his best to save my nails…Well..I don’t have nails again!!!! :)

Von Says:

“Someone tell me Novak Djokovic, ranked #2 in the world, playing his favorite tournament on his favorite surface, is not being bagelled by Mar-nobody Fish!”

Someone tell me please, just when did Mardy Fish morph into *Mar-nobody Fish*? sheesh

I think all players on the tour are somebodies, and I’ve nt heard otherwise about Fish.

Well the nobody Fish fed the somebody player, Djokovic, a nice fat bagel. Fish has not played for quite a few months, and is playing injured with a bad knee and ankle. He’s been a tennis player for quite a few years and is certainly NOT a *nobody*. He won the doubles title last year at IW. If someone said likewise about Djokovic, I’m sure his fans wouldn’t like it and would be blowing steam out of their ears.

OllyK Says:

Von, stu was sarcastic, if you didn’t notice. I strongly believe that she knows very well who Mardy Fish is. ;) Lets be realistic: He IS so-called “nobody” (not literally, of course)comparing to Novak AT THIS POINT when he is ranked 102 in the world, ie 100 spots behind Novak….And that sentence wasn’t written to disrespect Fish but to criticize Nole’s game. That is how I understood it. But lets wait for stu to wake up and see what she has to say on this subject! ;) Cheers!

O-Kerr Says:

Let’s see if Djokovic fans fish-fry me. He is nobody he got bageled by another nobody. Whether you love him or hate him, his ranking is undeserving. In other words, for last several months, he’s been playing like a player ranking below top 15. It is just the serve, which is worse than some of the players below top 50. I have said this before and some sympathetic poster mentioned above that Novak’s ground game has been out of sorts since he added slice-drop volley App to his game. Some predicted at the dawn of this year that 2010 will be his year, but the same folks cannot confidently reiterate the same because they too know, whether they admit it publicly or not, Novak is not heading in the right direction unless the whole change in style is perceived, correctly or otherwise, as long term goal of winning FO. If he fails to do that, he will very likely descend to a rank below top 5 by the end of THIS year and could drop further next year, to the dismay of his fans, eventually reaching the much-feared, inevitable fate of anonymity, similar to nobodiness of the waterless pond of below top 100 where Fish currently resides. Maybe, it is just a temporary glitch that Novak will, as his fans hope, fix it before it is too late and maintain his somebodiness, in whatever metaphorical sense the term could be understood. But in my view, he has been in-between the land of somebody and nobody, radiating uncertainty. Comprende?
Ђоковић навијача, клони ову жену Фон !

O-Kerr Says:

It’s just his serve s/b It’s not just his serve that is in decline…

NELTA Says:

It’s been raining non stop for 24 hours and may continue for another day and a half in my neck of the woods. Good for watching some tennis.

My thoughts on some of yesterday’s action.

Gulbis showed he is not ready to take on the big boys. Way too many unforced errors. Davy played more defense than usual and let Gulbis beat himself.

I only saw a few games of the Cilic match. He looked flat.

I was impressed by Nadal. Schuettler was a good opponent for his first match. He has no big weapons so Nadal could get comfortable returning serve and exchanging in long baseline rallies. Nadal is well suited to windy conditions. He can muscle the ball when he is against the wind and can control the ball with heavy topsin when he is with the wind. Also, he doesn’t let the wind bother him mentally if it causes an unforced error. It takes precision shot-making(indoor play is perfect for this) to beat Nadal and the wind makes that more difficult.

stu Says:

Wow I was obviously being critical of Nole, as I usually am when I watch his matches. I didn’t even realize it could be construed as an insult to Fish – I mean come on, he’s older than I am and has never been ranked higher than 20-something (or maybe late teens? I don’t remember). In relative terms, considering that Novak was a clear favorite in terms of his ranking and achievements, Fish _is_ a nobody. Sure he works hard, but I don’t see what separates him from anyone ranked below 20 currently. And Novak should be embarrassed to be bageled by any of them!

O-Kerr, I agree. To justify his ranking, Novak needed to be levels above Fish. He wasn’t, so he was an embarrassing nobody last night too!

Ollyk, I appreciate your defending me while I was away :)

OllyK Says:

stu, U’re welcome. Anything for brotherhood! :P Thx for clearing that up. And Mardys highest ranking was 17, in 2004, I checked! ( it’s better if we write down everything to show that we, Nole fans, are familiar with some details, than to be attacked again for not respecting another players ;) )
O-Kerr, yes Nole didn’t look promising last night, but don’t be too harsh on him..I don’t think he’ll descend to a rank below top 5 by the end of the year..I’m waiting to see him play with one of top 10 players and then make conclusions..We haven’t seen that for a while. And, at AO this year he wasn’t playing that bad, IMO.
And, thx for the advice (stu and other Nole fans, it is in Serbian, try to Googletranslate it) :)

Just a small correction: it should be said:
“Noletovi navijachi, chuvajte se ove zene Von!” :) (you used cyrillic alphabet, but its the same meaning! :)

OllyK Says:

**Sorry, I meant: “Djokovicevi navijachi, klonite se…” Enjoy in Serbian. ;)

jane Says:

O-Kerr @10:11 – I don’t think you’ll get fish-fried. I think many of Djoko’s fans are well aware of his struggles at present. It seems strange to say that, in a way though. You say he’s been playing like a “below 15” player, but I don’t think I agree that it’s quite that bad. He did end the year last year with some great wins, including over Cilic, Fed and Nadal; he’s overcome some hurdles he hadn’t done in the past (i.e., winning back-to-back tournaments and defending a title); and he’s been getting pretty good results this year, even though he hasn’t been playing his best: QF AO, SF Rotterdamn, Title Dubai, and then winning the two DC ties he needed to. So, we can be hard on him for sure, but then again, it’s not like he’s plummeting yet. He did come back around last night to win (though I didn’t quite see how as I stopped watching).

I think OllyK makes a good point; let’s see how he does against a top ten player. If he bombs, then you may be right, and he may be headed out of the top 5.

I feel that it’s mainly his serve, and that when it falls into place, the rest of his game does as well. When he plays with a strong serve, he plays confidently imo.

Duro Says:

Hi, Jane. Hi, Olly. OllyK, are you still there?

OllyK Says:

Hi, Duro! Yes,I am here. ;) Where were you? Did you watch Nole this morning? :/

jane Says:

Hi Duro : ) Hope you’re having sunshine to brighten your day.

Duro Says:

Got up before 5 am. But, I won’t talk about Novak. Not in the mood, really… Let him deserve it, first.

I’d like to ask you to pay attention to what I’ve told you before, regarding the whole atmosphere here on this site. Better not to interfere (with translation and everything) . There are some personal wars here back from quite some time now. You can imagine how strong it is when someone put in so much effort to find a way to transfer a massage like that. Hypocrisio in adjecto. To chose less of the two evils. Did you get what I mean or not?

Duro Says:

Jane, thanks. Sunshine finally but my days are not bright… See you, Jane.

madmax Says:

HI duro,

not seen you for a while – congratulations to your novak, but didnt he put you through it this time duro? It’s hard to watch your player when he suddenly loses his grip. (I know how you feel), but a win is a win – so enjoy it.

Great weather today in the UK! the first for a few weeks, still cold, but the sun, as bright as gold.

catch you a little bit later. (still waiting for Sar’s feedback – she is actually there!)!

OllyK Says:

Duro, I got it. How did you know that I’m professor of Latin language?! :)) Ne brini, videla sam da neshto ne shtima, shta mislish, zashto sam “ironichno” stavila da uzivaju u srpskom…? ;) (sorry guys)

contador Says:

hmm, OllyK.

i have no idea what u said there. but please talk some sense into Duro. all i can catch is that something is maybe “ironic?” what do i know.

ja Duro. don’t take the tennis forums so serious. you usually don’t.

i really like you around, okay? AJDE NOLE! and he better not play around and let PK have a set.

Duro Says:

OK, Olly, but we’ll use English, to be fair to all posters, so it doesn’t look like we’re talking behind their back, OK? I didn’t know you were professor of Latin language! Nice. Puela puele femininum, ha ha ha! See you, Olly. I’m not gonna post much these days, so see you around.

contador Says:

easy win for tsonga, eh? i had to look up matosevic.

Muzza fans….woot! he’s up next, right? Kimmi, Jane..

baggy and clement are having a match. i like them both. clement may be better for federer. IF federer gets past big Vic. boy uh boy, he better finish hanescu off in 2. no fooling around, fed.

contador Says:

Duro, wazzup with you? i’ll go get a translation, nevermind.

Duro Says:

Maxi, nice to see you. Excited about your Maestro playing again? Didn’t I tell you not to worry that he’d be back IW? I know how much you missed him…

About Novak… Oh, boy… I better not say anything.

contador Says:

Hey Madmax! these IW hours are very bad for your sleep. Fed doesn’t play until like 6 pm here….2 am there.

setting the dvr?

later. just wanted to check and read if anyone was watching the matches. what’s ironic is that on the day i am going to be “out” i have a great online stream. i;ll try to be back in time for federer match.

contador Says:

am i getting the royal snub, Duro?

okay.

Duro Says:

Countess! You were talking with Kimmi about your title… Well, it’s my pleasure and honor and exclusive right to call you that (better than Alberto, right?). Don’t bother with translation, I was just being protective to Olly; she’s new here, so I felt I should be like it.

Duro Says:

Countess!!! Stop rushing! I have a year and a half kid on my lap, I can hardly reach a keyboard from him! I ma around, don’t worry. Reading all the stuff you right. I was watching Gulbis closely. What a potential! But, he’s got a long way to go. Very very unstable, inexperienced and young. But, there’s time ahead of him. Top ten, three years from now… :-).

Kimmi Says:

hey contador, I was looking for u on another thread. The master (maestro) is on today, hope you are back to watch him live. I will be watching Murray..he better win..easily! See ya later.

OllyK Says:

duro, no worries. I’ll translate what I said to you so others may see that there is nothing going on behind their back.. :)
Soooo, contador, since you are the only one interested at the moment :P, here it is:
“Don’t worry, I’ve noticed that sth is not right. What do you think, why did I “ironically” put at the end “enjoy in Serbian”?” That’s it! Duro, confirm that this is the exact translation, pls? :)
And, yes, I’m professor of Latin. And, it is puella, puellae, f. :D Stay with us, don’t go, we need our “leader” during IW!

Kimmi Says:

Duro my friend..you better give Murray some good vibe or else! :)

Duro Says:

Olly, the minute I wrote puela, I remembered it was puella, puelae, but didn’t have chance to make a correction. Forgiven? Your translation was correct, so help me God, and hope to die!

Kimmi, it seems no our finals again. Novak’s fault this time. Son of the…

Duro Says:

Arrrrrgh: Puella, Puellae femininum! Mea culpa maxima!

OllyK Says:

Haha, duroo!! You are forgiven (Tibi ignosco :D)! :) Thx for confirmation and your virtual protection. You are a real gentleman! :)

Daniel Says:

OMG, Davy out of the tournament with a broken wrist??!!!

Kimmi Says:

Daniel, what!! Broken? How can he play with a that wrist if it was that serious? Didn’t his doctors see the danger…very bad!

O-Kerr Says:

Jest Duro , te biti jedan umnik. Olly pa ostali Srpski treba prijateljski s taj žena pa tiho primiti njoj kriticizam nad Djokovic. JA sam jasno ne određeni član manji nad dva urok! :)

Daniel Says:

Yeah Kimmi, some bad diagnosis happening with Davy last couple of months. Now he can compromize a big part of his season. Too bad!

Murray is playing great appart from the low serve percentage from both players.

jane Says:

Glad Murray is making it through despite his serving. Shocking and sad news about Davy and the prospects of his season. But I have to say that it’s too bad he took out Ernie in the first round now to retire; too bad his doctors couldn’t’ve given him this news sooner, like before the tournament! : /

O-Kerr Says:

Daniel, where did you get this news about Davy’s wrist and retirement? Is this for fact, not rumor?
Too bad.

Von Says:

Just a small correction: it should be said:
“Noletovi navijachi, chuvajte se ove zene Von!” :) (you used cyrillic alphabet, but its the same meaning! :)

Unbelievable.

Von Says:

OllyK: thanks for the explanation on Mardy Fish. However, I still stand by what I say that all players whether they are ranked 1 or 1000 are important = somebodies, as they make up the draw and the tour.

___________
stu: I’m a very strong supporter of the American players, as I’m sure you are of the Serbian players. That said, I’m sure you’d probably not like it if a lower-ranked Serbian player was referred to as a no-body. Mardy Fish has been plagued with injuries for quite a few years, hence his drop in the ranking, but on a good day, he can certainly give his opponent a good work-out.

Anyway, sorry about voicing my opinion and for offending you and everyone else.

BTW, I can read the translations, as I have a translator tool and I’m a student of Latin also.

OllyK Says:

Von, about translation: I didn’t want to translate it in English from Serbian, it is sth between you and O-Kerr, obviously. I don’t know anything about any of you (except you are a Latin student, which is great!) so its not on me to interfere. As I said to Duro, I was ironic in my posts afterwards cause there is no need for using Serbian language for that stuff. I just wanted that sentence to be written correctly (professional deformation, I think). ;) Nothing personal. No hard feelings.
Speaking of which, O-Kerr, your 2nd try to write in Serbian is not even understandable for us Serbs, so I advise you to use English in future. ;)
About Mardy – Nole thing…yes, as I said before, they ARE all tennis-personalities i.e. somebodies. But we were talking about comparison of achivements, nothing more. And you (like everyone else) have right on your own opinion. So there is no need to say you’re sorry. Case closed. ;)

OllyK: Thanks for your explanation and it’s appreciated. You seem like a very reasonable and understanding person which is indeed refreshing.

With respect to the translation, et al., I believe at one time non-English posts were disallowed and/or deleted.

Re: O-Kerr, I’m aware of what’s said and how O-Kerr feels about me, and I could care less. If he wants to badmouth me even though my posts don’t concern him, then he can do so ad infinitum, as it’s a public forum, and I’m not the one who’s going to look bad, he is. I can retaliate by digging up stuff, and piecing patterns together, but sometimes it’s best to just go in the other direction. The same situation happenend after the USO. Maybe I should change my post name also.

“About Mardy – Nole thing…yes, as I said before, they ARE all tennis-personalities i.e. somebodies. But we were talking about comparison of achievements, nothing more.”

Ahh, now I understand what you’re saying about the ‘nobody’ stuff. Well, if we look at it that way, yes, presently status/rank wise, Mardy should be considered a ‘nobody’ in comparison to Djokovic. I just have a problem with that ‘nobody’ designation, as i feel we’re all equal. Hence, excuse my feelings on the matter.

Olly, thanks for your gracious post. You should be happy for your guy as his draw has opened up nicely.

OllyK Says:

Thank you for your nice words, Von. I really appreciate it. I am that kind of person who always tries to solve things nicely. And it works with normal people. The other ones are not worth trying. Pure natural selection. :) That is how I see it. :)

And thanks for your explanation about O-Kerr and you. I knew that sth was not right with you two…I’m still learning things about ppl and their relations on this blog. And, it looks like it is going to be a looong process… :)

About Nole…Von, yes, he really has a great chance to reach sf at least… I hope that he will play better than today..and starting from tomorrow. :)

Well, since this is our first official conversation, nice to meet you, collegue! :)

Von Says:

Yes Olly, everything’s a learning process and also a process of elimination when we make changes from our comfort zone. I’m a naturalist, and I let time be my guide, as revenge is not mine. I also believe that whatever is hidden will soon be revealed and brought to light. I make my decisions based on my personal experience with everyone and keep an open mind, not going by what I hear, as we all interpret things differently, and not everyone sees things the same way.

Olly, it was nice chatting with you and also I’m delighted to make your acquaintance. Take care and enjoy the tennis as it’s going to get exciting now that we’re getting close to the QFs.
