Novak Djokovic did it again beating back Rafael Nadal 64, 64 to win Rome. The win follows his incredible victory last Sunday in Madrid.

In the interview Djokovic sounds grounded and ready for the mission of the French Open which he has never won.

Djokovic is perfect on the season with a 37-0 record as he closes in on John McEnroe’s record 42-0 mark. His overall win streak now stands at 39.

Djokovic will have about a week to rest before the French Open begins next Sunday. After a long season and lots of matches (and match wins) the Serb is surely hoping for as late a start as possible in Paris. We’ll know more when the draw is released on Friday.

Congratulations to all the Djokovic fans.

Chico Says:

Wery, wery, well done Nole!

As an aspiring to stay unbiased (Fed makes it hard) tennisfan it is easy to be happy for the guy, as he thruthfully puts out there and tells that he was on the limit himself.

And what he said about expectations, he really have had enough of them in the past so that should not make life much harder no matter how long his streak runs.

That said, it is probably going to end in the trenches of the Roland Garros final. Madrid and Rome where like hundred meter dashes on astroturf compared to a marathon run in sand. Nadal in five, IF Nole gets there :).

Chico Says:

oops.. puts IT out there, feel free to moderate :o

Skeezerweezer Says:

Rafa is the favorite for FO, but I am picking Nole. Going to ride on this train still, why not and why not cheer him on? Thought Nole would cool down during the Clay season but it is full steam ahead!!! Something special is happening and it’s in the air…

stu Says:

Just stay healthy, Nole, and don’t sweat the small stuff!

Nina Says:

I also want to try that gluten-free diet Nole!

Dory Says:

I am so happy about the tennis landscape right now. Novak deserves to be No. 1 and stay on top as long as he performs like this. A true masterclass performance from the start of the season. I can see how the combination of many things is working so perfectly for him. Hope he wins many many more Slams.
