Novak Djokovic: I Didn’t Come To Wimbledon To Play A Few Rounds
Still a week away and a lot can happen with his knee, but Novak Djokovic sounds like a man who didn’t fly to Wimbledon shortly after right knee surgery just to play a few rounds.
Speaking to the BBC after his second day of practice on the grass, the Serb made it clear he was showed up to take a shot at an eighth title.
“I didn’t come here to play a few rounds,” Djokovic said Monday after a two hour training block.
“I really will only play if I know I am in a state which is good enough to go far in the tournament and fight for the title, so that’s the condition.
“If I know I can play close to my maximum or at maximum, then I’ll play. If not, then I’ll give somebody else a chance to play.”
