Rafael Nadal very nearly missed his flight to Beijing (via Madrid) earlier this week on Wednesday. Leaving from his home in Mallorca, the recent US Open champion is seen walking quite briskly to get the to ticket counter.

Safe to say, we’ve all been there, Rafa!

But would the flight really leave without Nadal? Most certainly not. Still it’s funny to watch Rafa on the run, putting those knees in peril, to make the flight. Once he got his ticket, he was more than happy to pose with fans and speak to the media.

Nadal plays a qualifier in the first round on Tuesday in the first round. Top seed and defending champion faces Lukas Rosol in his opener.

If Nadal, who has won his last 22 matches on hardcourts, does well and Djokovic stumbles there’s an excellent chance Rafa will return to Europe after the two-week Asian trip with the No. 1 ranking.

“I don’t know what exactly I need to do to become the No.1, but the only way I can do it is playing my best,” said the 13-time Grand Slam singles champion,” Nadal told Xinhua.

“It’s something that not worries me today. Only thing that I am focus on is try to keep playing well.”

Rafa is great sportsman. All those folks in the airport hounding him and he gave every one a picture. The man is a credit to his sport. A class act all the way.
