In one of the lighter moments during second round play Saturday at Indian Wells, world No. 1 and defending champion Rafael Nadal had to leave the court during the second set of his 3-set win over Radek Stepanek because he spilled water on his shorts.
After the “accident”, Nadal, who’s had a history of bizarre injuries (burnt fingers, cramping at press conferences, cutting finger), had to leave the court to get a new, dry pair of shorts.
Nadal had just broken an in-form Stepanek to take the lead in the second set. The Spaniard went on to win 26, 64, 75 and he’ll now face Alexandr Dolgopolov Monday in the third round.
