Serena Williams captured her 6th US Open title yesterday easily beating Caroline Wozniacki 63, 63 in just 75 minutes.

Serena and Caroline are best of friends, so naturally afterwards the last two standing in the US Open women’s draw met for a night of celebration.

“She’s funny, she’s nice, she’s supportive,” Serena said of her relationship with Wozniacki. “She’s just really, really sweet. You know, she’s a sweet person. I think I can kind of take my wall down a little bit with her and I can be who I am. It’s nice when you can do that with someone. Yeah, it makes it really nice.”

Hoepfully Serena did pick up the tab. Her title not only gave her 18 Grand Slam titles but also added a record breaking $4 million dollars to her bank account.

“I just could never have imagined that I would be mentioned with Chris Evert or with Martina Navratilova, because I was just a kid with a dream and a racquet,” Serena said. “Living in Compton, you know, this never happened before.

“I want to do really well and I love the game. The reason I play is to sit at the end of the day and hold the trophy or stand and hold the trophy. For me, that’s my joys.”

Very cool! You don’t see this among the men anymore!

RZ Says:

It’s nice that they can have competitive matches on the court (or as competitive as Woz was able to make it yesterday) and still be good friends.

Beautifully said, Serena like this poem: of the Mexican poet Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

Tell raptor winner

Tell Raptor winner,,
beat my record,
What has brought your arrogance
to alter my firm peace?
That even able to beat
is the tip of your spear
the hardest heart
What matters violent shooting,
if despite the expiration
reason is alive?

Have large manor;
but your jurisdiction
dominates the inclination,
no more passes will.
And trust rid
your crazy dare,
I feel as though rendered
dam and freedom,
the will yields
but not consent.

Divided into two parts
my soul is confusion:
one, a slave to passion,
and another reason to size.
Civil War, lit,
ail chest importunate:
want to beat each,
and among so many fortunes,
contrary both die
but no expire.

When outside, Love, you through,
I did not deserve you palm;
and today, you’re inside the soul
courage is resistance.
Scoot thine obstinacy,
how many wins I win:
because when squatters tyrant
the soul, without resisting,
You have defeated the Castle
Castilian and invincible.

Triumphant reason encourages
weapons against your vile viciousness,
and chest is short campaign
a battle so bloody.
And so, Love in vain attempts
your crazy effort offend:
because I can say, seeing me
expire without surrender,
you gotta kill me
but you could not beat me.
